Root Help

Newbie
I have an evo 4g rooted and I have been trying to get mms working with no luck. I did a system restore with nandroid and now all I get is a screen with the word android that blinks on and off. Tried a hard reset and nothing. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Were going to need some more information.

What ROM were you on before this happened? What did you tryo to do to fix mms?

Whats your H-boot?

Are you able to get into recovery? If so, what recovery are you using?

wow.

Can you still get to your recovery? I suggest you boot back into it and wipe and then either flash a new rom or try the nan again, or maybe a different one?

I am on stock rom rooted with revolutionary. I tried the fix for mms from here and it did'nt work. So I was told to restore to remove the flash that didn't work witch I did and now no matter what I do I can't boot into recovery.

What did you do to 'restore'?

have you pulled the battery and then, after putting it back in, hold the vol down button and press and hold the power button?

Okay I removed the battery and did the volume down with the power button and I am now in recovery main screen. Now what should I do? Recovery is Revolutionary v4.0.1.4

so you got to recovery? good!

which one do you use?

i use amon ra.

i would wipe cache and dalvick cache and data, 3x each, I just do that :p,

then I would prob try and reflash the original rom.

Lots of stuff we haven't asked and stuff, but here at recovery, the way is wide open for you again.

Have you read the rooting gingerbread for dummies sticky? http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...ooting-dummies-guide-gingerbread-edition.html

have you switched recoverys to amon ra? do you have superwipe installed?

I wonder why the nan you made did not work?

Prob a good thing would be to reflash ur original rom, or a new one and get set back up again.

did you have backups of your apps? Titanium backup? If you do and use it to restore, do not restore any red system stuff.

Okay I have flashed to Metro PCS and I don't want to have to pay another $65.00 for that. I was considering a new sense rom but don't know which one is complete. I am not on Sprint. The guy who flashed it said I can't update the OS or I'll lose the flash to Metro. And where would I find the stock rom to begin with?

:(

All roms can be found in the ROMS & Kernels download page, but I have no firsthand experience with Metro

There are instructions for flashing yourself to metro on here though I believe...

I have not switched to amon ra. No to superwipe also. Yes I have Titanium and I have read all the rooting guides thats how I found out about Revolutionary and I make backups before I do anything. Do you have any links for any of this stuff? Oh and thanks for your help.

Ok, I am not familiar with metro pcs procedures at all, there is a thread in here about it though, maybe it can help you. Let me dig it up for you.

edit: oh, and you are welcome, and, of course, welcome to the forums! wish I could help you more but I don't know anything about Metro Pcs.

Thanks I already read the whole Metro thread and still can't seem to find out the most complete rom for the evo 4g. I had everything but mms working on the stock rom.

well, do you have yourself up and running again?

we have some stock roms in the roms and kernels thread. I think they are up to date with the new ota as well. Would flashing something new cause you to lose the metro stuff?

Do you think the nand you made might work now?

I would just get GoSms Pro from the market, if it does. It is free by the way, and it works well on sprint.

Good luck, let us know how it goes for you, ok?

The guy who flashed it to Metro said I could not update Gingerbread without reflashing. Okay i am back up and running. Thanks to you guys for your help.

Didn't do much but glad we could help!

Try that GoSms Pro thing and let me know if it works for you.

Now that you're up and running make a new nandroid.

If you're feeling up to it, try out MikG. I believe it should not give you any problems. It's stock, with a few enhancements. As long as you don't mess with the radios you should be cool. Hence the new nandroid if you're not. ;)

also you may want to try cm7. i hear that aosp roms work well on metro. the link the dustwin gave earlier has links to the data/mms file you need to flash as well. i really like cm7 and with the tiamat kernel, you will get the best battery life.
