ok so we need more info. what is your hboot? do you have s-off? what rom are you on? and have you flashed a kernel? if so which kernel?

and what is happening when you try to tether?

Where do I find the hboot? Yes, I have s-off. Don't know about the rest.
When I try to tether it does not do anything. I don't even get that not subscribed message anymore.

I really messed up. I tried following instructions from this dude on youtube before finding this forum.

Power down the phone (Turn off fastboot) then press and hold volume down button and then the power button (have both pressed down then release) you should get a white screen with andi skating at the bottom Type very correctly everthing that screen tells you.

Ok great you are infact rooted.

So next big step is to tell us what recovery you have. If you have clockwork I would highly suggest you switch to Amon RA. you can find instructions how to do so in the rooting for dummies in my sig.
 
Still not working right. Same issues. The tether does not connect, can't delete pre loaded apps. Guhhhhhhh!!!! Getting frustrated with this thing.
 
Try Mikg3.0 it is way better then stock. Go to the root info sticky to get it. Mikg has all of bloatware removed. Also it has the sprint hotspot included.
