Ok guys i dont want to take anything away from interdpth but there is a new exploit that works on these phones and rather than posting it on page 3492834798 of the 34827649287 post where no one can see it, ill just lay it out here :)

1) download the zip
2) extract it to your desktop or downloads folder
3) enable usb debugging via settings > applications > development
4) run the root.bat (it may be called root instead dont fret... its just windows) or if you are on mac/linux run the .sh
5) PROFIT!!

http://goo.gl/S5wq7

this is using a new exploit thanks to bliss, there is no more stand on two legs and reboot and pray to the root gods that your fine etc.. this exploit works every time :)

again thanks to everyone who worked hard on all of this and while this may be a prettier nicer version of root dont forget it was interdpths hard work that got it in the first place

Ok this did nothing for me. It just simply opened up a blank page and said.. internet explorer has blocked this page from downloading. I clicked download.. Nothing has happened. Someone please help me feel less like an idiot before I punch myself in the face. :eek:

I am trying this new version but still with no luck.
I have set the usb debugging enabled.

The first time I tried root.bat, the screen shows:

* daemon not running. starting it now *
* daemon started successfully *
Getting temp root
[1] Segmentation fault app_process /dev...

then it stopped there, and my cell buzzed regularly.

I had to unplug the usb from my cell phone and restart the cell phone.

I tried the second time, it went further, and the screen shows:
* daemon not running. starting it now *
* daemon started successfully *
Getting temp root
[1] Segmentation fault app_process /dev...

rm failed for /data/local/zergRush, No such file or directory
"You should have root!"

Press any key to continue . . .

and again, my cell buzzed regularly. I had to restarted it again.

The third time I tried, exactly the same result as the second time.

Any help? I had tried the old version for hours but could not make it work. I really hope this new version could root my samsung prevail.

Thanks a lot!

@Forview
I got the same message as you, rm failed for /data/local/zergRush, No such file or directory,But it indeed did root my phone that must be a normal message .as for the vibration mine also did that my phone was stuck at the Samsung logo I shut the phone off turned it back on and it installd everything fine. I am running GB 2.3,did you check to see if it installed superuser App.

im semi new to rooting...i had a moto droid wen they first came out and rooted it...now i have the prevail and wish to root it...tryd the way on this thead and my cmd promt screen stays yellow and my phone vibrates 3 times...then once...every 5 seconds or so...rlly lookin forward to rootin this...ive been tryin for about a month and nothin works...do i need airplane mode on/off? i dnt have service ware i live i just wifi...does that matter? debug and sd card out/off...followd all instructions numerous times...not sure what im doin :(

i get the same thing as forview above ^^^

* daemon not running. starting it now *
* daemon started successfully *
Getting temp root
[1] Segmentation fault app_process /dev...

thats where my phone does the vibrate thing and sits with the cmd prmt yellow...tried numerous times to to no prevail...lol...no prevail...haha...anyway, ne help ne1? and also i kno that rootin will get rid of the new gingerbread update, thats ok with me, im not likein it to much...maybe if the phone was faster it would work better idk...i do like the color scheme tho, that is nice

I'm on simple green 2.2, Shabbymod 0.9. Is it recommended that I wipe the phone and run this new one click root. Will this let me get Gingerbread?

My phone was rooted and I took an update ( my Bad ) it now says it's version
2.3.5 and Gingerbread.EJ06

I tried to get root again using the above exploit to no avail... it never said my shit was being erased this time ;-)

Any news on a new way to root it?

This must be a hit or miss with this exploit,I was on GB 2.3.5 and I ran the script once and was able to gain root.

I just used it a few days ago to root and it worked perfectly the first time after I had no luck with all the other suggestions. I have run it twice since the update with no luck.

They done stole my phone as far as I'm concerned!

I turned off the phone for a while went back checked all the setting were correct and ran it again! When it said it was deleting all my shit, I knew it had worked! It does work, thanks so much!

Hey ive never rooted my phone before but since i have no memory i think its time i do. I just installed the new update. Will this still work?

I'm on my second attempt here. I've gotten this far:
Root for the Samsung Prevail

Exploit By Bliss

One Click Done by
Shabbypenguin

Press any key to continue...Starting adb server
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
You need to enable usb debugging first
Go to settings > applications > development
* Running exploit [part 1 of 3]...
[*] Triggering core dump...
[1] Segmentation fault app_process 2>/d...
* Running exploit [part 2 of 3]...
[*] Rebooting phone. It may buzz a lot and loop on boot. Don't panic.
* Running exploit [part 3 of 3]...
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *

Now my phone just sits here and buzzes with the samsung logo. It's been doing this for 30 minutes now.

I hit ctrl-C and got this:

error: protocol fault (no status)
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
