A friend connected his kindle to my prevail using my hotspot. I do not remember any problems with it. Not sure if he had the fire but it was the cheapest version without 3g

I was just curious if you would go into detail about what exactly that means. I'm new to the smartphone world. I'm guessing that having a 'rooted cell phone' is basically just being able to delete stuff you wouldn't normally be able to.Lol, I just mean that now my phone is rooted. Sorry

"Root" Is the purpose of this thread. All the cool kids are doing it............
Hey, I'm no dev by any means. I'm not a great hacker either. I learn everything by doing it. But I just joined these forums and honestly there is so much junk going on I can't keep track of what happened when.
I did the one click root before I seen the CIQ mod and now I look thru my running services and don't see Anything labeled IQ agent... I was just curious if this one click root also included the CIQ remover

you'll have complete control. you can add, change and remove anything you like. so much so that you can disable the device if you remove the wrong thing. but as long as you use backups and common sense you won't have to worry about that. That's one thing I'm a little weary of myself. How much control do you actually have after you root one of these bad boys?
Does anyone know if you can root an Android tablet as well?

On my computer? (i'm on a netbook kind of hard) i have superuser but nothing else.
Oh well, I'm buying a new one soon. But now i have downloaded but my phone never starts up, Just sits there vibrating. I've let it sit while i was in the shower (30 minutes) and came back to the same thing. I had to do a battery pull on it because it wouldn't boot. but now i have superuser, Am i supposed to have anything else on it or is it all?

I enabled USB debugging, unmounted SD, and ran the program. The phone reboots, displays "SAMSUNG" and vibrates about every second, and the program seems to be stuck forever here:

I unmounted but did not remove the sd card. Should I?did you unmount -and- remove the sdcard?
I unmounted but did not remove the sd card. Should I?
Edit: I tried again with SD card removed, same result.
Running it with sudo worked, thanks!Because the SD-card can interfere with the root process, and the SD-card gets mounted during the boot process, and the phone gets rebooted during the root process, then yeah, you need to unmount and completely remove the card when rooting.
Try doing an "adb kill-server" then try running the script as root, either by switching to root with su, or by running the script with "sudo Linux-Mac.sh"
ciq removal is not included with root. that needs to be done with a mod (like ciq remover) or rom (ctmod). just read the thread for the one you want to use. these are for the most part built for specific roms.
froyo has shabbymod, ctmod and a bunch of themes,
gingerbread has ctmod,
cm7 is cm7.

it's like everything about the device belongs to you.. not just the bill.
our house has three android phones and two nook color e-readers. all rooted. everything has full functionality and then some.
