Holiday Gingerbread anyone?

Wouldn't you know it as soon as I get my replacement phone for my Charge (moto bionic) they announce gingerbread.
I love my new phone.never going to get a sSammy again.

Do you guys think this gingerbread update (along with other fixes from verizon on the over the air update) will impact the functionality of mobile hotspot apps like "Barnacle" or "Wifi Hotspot USB Tether" by SVTP from working?

Yes....svtp does not work on gingerbread....

Thanks for the response, so is there a way to block the OTA update...or is rooting the only other option? I wonder what SVTP will do come the update day... is it even possible for them to create a workaround?

According to InTo Mobile... its coming this Tuesday 11/29! :D

-My question though-- My Charge is rooted with gummy charged 2.0... will I have to "unroot" my phone before the OTA update?
Thanks

From what I've researched...yes. You will need to flash back to ee4. Our wait until someone has the release available through odin.

Danalo over on XDA has already put together an ODIN package that's rooted and deodexed for those who want to get some Gingerbread now. He does have a non-rooted and non-deodexed ODIN ROM file for those who don't want to root.

You can find it at this thread.

If I were to do this NOW, how would I keep the OTA update from happening in the coming couple days?

If my memory of the last update is acurate, It will notify you of the updaye but you have to confirm it for it to actually happen.

Don't know if you will get the update notice if you are on a non stock setup.

Thanks! I might try this tonight then.

You wouldn't get a notification of an update. The ROM I mentioned that Danalo made is the final release, the one that everyone will be getting via the OTA. The only thing is is that you'll be getting it before everyone else does.

Sucks...what tethering or wifi apps (besides Verizon's pay-for-it one) will work with Gingerbread?

If your rooted, most work fine. I can't recall it off the top of my head since I'm not rooted anymore but wifi tether beta 6 (i think) worked great and if you changed the device profile to samsung fascinate you could broadcast in infrastructure mode and tether to a android tablet.

What was thrown around in the past on other forums is 3.1-beta2

Works just fine on the ota leak with root.

I take that back, I just lost the ability to interact with the screen after shutting it down. I'll experiment later tonight, could be a random thing here, too!

Alright, so I am waiting PATIENTLY (not) for my OTA update. Anyone seeing theirs yet???

Today is the 29th... where is it? lol
