Root How 2 A2SD (via DarkTremor and Joneidy's Custom Recovery)

i usually make a backup and restore my data as well.. but for whatever reason.. CWM recovery will not backup my sd-ext.. i gotta do things the hard way.. flash GNM make a backup.. Flash CWM wipe my system, reflash rom, flash GNM restore my backup, as im not sure whether or not cwm will restore it. maybe if i copied it fromt he nandroid folder to the cwm folder on my sd.. maybe.. GNM recovery does not have a Wipe Sytem option.. as per why i need to flash the CWM recovery.. so i can wipe the system on a fresh install and do a complete wipe of phone, complete format and re-partition of my sd card.. and we'll see what happens with the dalvik cache...
CWM is backing up and restoring ed-ext on my optimus. Are you backing up with CWM or with the other?

PlayfulGod, yes backing up with CWM does not do a backup of my sd-ext.. it skips it.. GNM will back it up, as of yeasterday thoguh and bricking my phone.. and reprogramming it.. im now int he process of reflashing everything.. and the initial error with dalvik running from internal memory, is fixed after flashing beta4. so i to can confirm that flashing beta4 over the pre-installed a2sd on the rom will fix the dalvik to sd-ext problem

tbh i didnt wipe anything just flashed over havent had a fc or any bug

Thanks much for suggesting - didn't wipe - flashed dtapps...beta04 - and it fixed the dalvik to run from sd-card. Ran a2sd check and all looks ok so far and running good, also more space :)

Has anyone tried the a2sd, with the team_chickeneater rom? and Is there a way someone can implement the a2sd support into the rom it self? I'm going to take a crack at this later, after I get some school work done. Just find this type of stuff interesting. ;)
I tried, though I was not successful in making a good working version. I may try again but right now im busy with my boost mobile prevail.

I did try to pair the a2sd to the team_chickeneater rom but no success either.:( I will try with a stock rom and see what happens.

I tried it on my wife's stock ROM (Android 2.2) and it didn't run. I asked the question on the dark tremor Facebook page and was told that the stock ROM didn't have something that was needed, or something like that.

I'm so glad to see that my thread has taken on a life of its own. :D I've been swamped lately and still am swamped with school work, and getting notifications of replies in here without coming back yet, I was concerned that people were asking me questions and growing impatient with my silence. Turns out everyone figured it out on their own! :)

yeah we just figured the a2sd thread was a good place to talk about it lol, instead of clogging the rom threads with other issues heh

I'm sure there will be further bouts of silence. I'm actually doing engineering classes this semester, and I'm actually doing my classes right, or at least trying really hard to--so I'm reading everything, taking notes on all of it, trying to do things in advance, and well, I'm pretty busy throughout the days now. Using this weekend to catch up again lol.

Im having difficulties moving my dalvik cache to sd card. GUI says its there but when I check the emulator it says int. set up error try repair. This occurs With all roms and sd cards. Any help?

ok so i just tried this and it has been partitioning the sd card for 10 minutes...should this take that long??

joneidy's newest recovery. I retried it this morning and all is well now except that i cant get the swap to work.

because your phone memory is way faster than ur sd card memory, phone memory is RAM with can read and write at extremely high speeds.. usually measured in the hundreds of mb per sec, whereas your sd card it depends on what class it is and even if its a class 10 card.. your write speed is only 10mb per second maybe a little higher,, and read speed is probably 15mb or so..

even if you use an sd speed increase app?

No. Your system ram is 10x faster than your sd card. While a sd card speed-up app does increase throughput to the SD it's only a small bump, not nearly even doubling the speed of the card.
