Thats a great question, but you can't without read/write (root) access to the device.

ok so i have been looking into this rooting guide here.. i have managed to get the files on in the temp folder and do the chmod's as in the guide but everytime i boot the phone to recovery to move the files with linux i get a red triangle?? its almost as though there is no stock recovery on the dam thing :?

ok so i got to the recovery although adb or linux shows no mounted partitions ? grrrr so close..
did you give root a try 1st. im plan on giving it a spin too using Ubuntu 14.4 after I get off.

Look on the same thread root is hereThe 510 can be unlocked via HTC Dev but at the time of this writing there is no custom recovery made for this phone yet. Hopefully someone will take up the project and you guys will then have easy root.
