Root How do you get your computer to recognize your device???

Well thank God I sbf'd over at my buddies house or I'd probably still be pulling my hair out, and would more than likely be convinced my phone was MAJORLY screwed up!

My biggest problem on my computer was RSDlite not seeing my phone. No matter what combination of things I tried, it just wouldn't show up. So I took the phone to my buddies house, got online and found out the drivers I had were dated (4.6, the latest are 4.8). So I downloaded the updated drivers to my flash drive, and also installed them on his computer.

I then installed RSDlite on his computer, started my phone up in bootloader, plugged it in, opened RSDlite and pulled up the 3.320 sbf and paused. I started to tell him that this was as far as I got at home, and wasn't sure how to get RSDlite to recognize my device, when all of a sudden I noticed something in the 1st slot under 'ports'... then I looked all the way over to the far right handed column and it showed 'In Process' or something like that. Then a quick glance at my phone confirmed that indeed the sbf was under way! Wasn't sure how I did it, but by that time I really coulda cared less!

After the successful restore I thanked my friend and came home. I have the 2nd sbf (to. 340) on my flash drive, and I also have the updated Motoconnect drivers (which I had figured was the missing link on my computer). I had every intention of getting my phone back to .340 immediately. But even after updating tbe drivers, I still can't get my phone to show up.... what the?

So now my question is, can I get my phone upgraded any other way than tbe sbf from 3.320? Like is there anything I can download straight to my device and flash it in bootstrapper? My gut tells me no. Please prove my gut wrong on this one guys!

Glad you are at least back most of the way. I thought I read the newest ApeX will bring you up .340 but you should be able to verify from the ApeX Wiki and/or DL thread. There was also a .340 update.zip but that failed for a few of us, me included. Got SD errors.

Finally, a happy ending. My computer has been acting sort of screwy the past few days. The internet would work for a few minutes, then all of a sudden no pages would load even though it showed I had internet access. I would have to do a reboot to get back on, but then a few minutes later, same story.

So after this fiasco I decided to just restore my computer to a month ago. After the restore was complete I redownloaded RSDlite (4.9), installed the drivers, powered my phone into bootloader, and connected it to the USB. Once I opened RSDlite, there it was in slot #1 just like at my buddies! Hells to the yeah!!!

So now I'm back on .340, whew! Ok so now as soon as I find Z4Root I'm going to make a fresh nandroid of this before doing ANYTHING else to it. If anyone needs a fresh .340 nandroid just let me know. If there's any way I can send it to ya, I will.

Edit : and thanks to EVERYONE who made contributions to this thread to get me back on my feet. I really appreciate it. I've tried my best to help others when they were bricked, this is my first time having to sbf, so now I'll be able to help out others even more now that I know what needs to be done.
