My 3rd Android phone since 11/09 (Eris to Incredible to Droid X). The screen is the absolute best for watching videos and being online. Jumps onto wireless in a heartbeat. Speed on par with the Dinc. Could care less about Sense UI. Been fiddlin' with it all afternoon and evening (videos, setup, Facebookin', texting and calls) still have 80% battery! Grabbed all my previous apps saved from AppBrain. I've noticed that after a few soft reboots it's speedier each time. Ordered on 7/15, delivered 7/16 by 3 PM, up and running within minutes of delivery. Very happy all the way around. Throw in Froyo soon and I'm done for the year.

Its unreal. I had a blackberry storm 1 previously. The differences are obviously night and day. Awesome phone!

So did I. My wife still has hers, but I keep seeing a look of envy on her face every now and then when I am talking about my phone (...which has oddly been pretty much all time ;) ).

So far so good it's starting to grow on me i like the ui better than sense. The browser seems a little slow but besides that everthing else is great.

Would probably give 4.5/5 but had to round up to 5, 4 is just too low :). Camera button is a little annoying and can't remove some verizon bloatware those are my only 2 complaints. Coming from a storm 1 also which probably doesn't help my objectivity (feels like going from a Honda Accord to a Bugatti Veyron).

I really really really like the X a lot, this is my first smart-phone like a lot of people here so I have nothing to compare it to. I like all the apps and widgets, I'm always connected to the net which I love (Im an Computer Admin by trade). The X is like having a small computer in your pocket and it rules. The learning curve is a bit steep but with the level of customization that's expected. Once it gets rooted I'll be even happier but Im in no rush I like the phone as is. I cant wait till I figure out the correct size to put movie on this thing, then I'll be even happier. One thing I have heard people talk much about is the radio, the FM radio is great. I don't regret buying the X and would recommend it to others if asked. Im coming from an EnvTouch so its night and day, the poster above makes a great comparison in my case its like going from a Toyota to a BMW.

I voted 4/5.

The only things I would change are relatively minor complaints:

- Messages widget should pull from Gmail app so I don't have to setup my gmail account twice. (not a huge deal, just disabled Gmail notifications to avoid duplicates.)

- Lock screen animation could be a tad smoother, but then I'm rocking lots of widgets and live wallpaper.

- Battery status indicator on top bar should have an option to show the percentage.

- After deleting a message from the messaging widget, it should take you back to the home screen, NOT to the Accounts Setup screen. This makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

- File sharing via Wifi is tedious and oft unsuccessful, but there are other apps that do a better job of this anyhow.

- Wish the calendar app supported r/w sync with arbitrary password protected CalDAV shares.

- Docking and undocking the phone with the multimedia station is difficult. I don't think the connectors line up perfectly.

Loving it! The screen real estate is fantastic. Hope a future version of Android would take advantage of these big screens (6 x 4 or 5 x 4 grid instead of 4 x 4). Coming from the Eris so I'm kinda missing Sense. Of course I bought Beautiful widgets, so that helped. Gotta love options that Android platform provides! There is some slight lag, but nothing like the Eris was getting. My main pet peeve is the speech bubbles in the native messaging app. Guess I'll have to try out Handsent soon. More options!

Battery on the 1st day lasted 12 hours! It would have been longer but I used GPS and Maps the last 20 to 30 minutes (had 30% battery when I started) and it killed it fast!

I love the screen, it's gorgeous and big. Could be bigger yet ;) Looking at my old samsung phone after looking at this screen I thought my eyes were blurry.

Also, the swype keyboard is the best text entry method I've ever used. I can type as fast on that keyboard as I can sitting here at the computer typing two handed on a real keyboard.

I hate the camera though. I really wish these companies would start to put in a REAL lens. Also, no spot metering. Meh.

Any good alternate camera software out there?

I thought the Droid X was the 1st phone to have a true "mechanical shutter"...that's a pretty big step...

The only thing i don't like is handcent doesn't work right, helixlauncher2 isn't available yet, and picasa isn't downloading to my gallery. Other than that i love it! The speaker could be louder like my droid was but that doesn't bother me too much.

I have the same problem!!!!!!! Handcent is my life!!!!! Hopefully it's just a small glitch that will be fixed in the next update!

I love it so far...

I keep reading comments about the battery life not being much better than the Incredible but when I had the Inc everyone said give it about a week because this type of battery works better after a week or so of charging cycles. It would be safe to assume that the X battery will do the same.

While I was waiting for the X I was worried about it not having the Sense UI, but after a day of using the X I can say I don't miss it. Sense was sharper looking but IMO doesn't function better. The unlock lag isn't aesthetically pleasing but not a problem for me. It seems to me like it is tied to the haptic feedback but I haven't tested the theory yet.

**just tried turning off the haptic feedback and it does not disable it completely the feedback on unlock still functions with it turned off.

Yesterday i pushed my battery to see if i could kill it in a day. I used it almost continuously from 10:30 am when it came off the charger until 8:30 pm when i plugged it in when the battery meter finally went red. When i wasn't surfing the web i was streaming slacker radio over bluetooth. I was very impressed with my first day of testing the battery. It will definitly last an entire day away from home and a charger.

Also, one of the reviews i saw said downloading a video took 2+ hours, i don't know where they got this. I downloaded a movie on the blockbuster app and it took less than 10 minutes to complete the download.

BTW, if you haven't tried your blockbuster app DO IT. You will get an email giving you $5 to use so your first movie rental is free!

No complaints here. A lot of things that people are bringing up i don't even really see. Browser's fast, battery is good. Lovin it all. Even motoblur isn't that bad IMO.

Ok so this is a great phone but I came from the incredible and speed wise it doesn't seem faster also I was expecting a huge upgrade in battery life from the incredible and have yet to see that..overall good phone but the few issues I've had in the one day I've had it make me sad because the incredible never have me a problem

If you didn't have any problems with your inc then why did you switch??

I was thinking the unlock lag was haptic feedback related, too. I can't find the option to disable it on unlock.

It's a 4. First problem, when on my Verizon network extender at 1X, with Wifi turned on, no internet access. Have to turn wifi off. Very strange. VCast doesn't work with Windows 7. There is no Outlook sync for 2010. Transferring music with Media Player only a couple album covers came across and no obvious way to get the rest.

My first Android phone. Came from using Itouch which had flawless sync with itunes.

Still excited about it but surprised these issues weren't covered elsewhere. Probably would have held off if they were.

I absolutely love this phone! It is definitely the best phone I've seen out there so far. I tested the iPhone 4 and the Evo but I didn't really feel overwhelmed by them. With the Droid X i do!

My only complaint is that the stock music player has placed all the songs in each album in alphabetical order instead of the order they were intended to be in. It's not so much an issue but just really frustrating. I've tried removing some albums and then putting them back in but that didn't work. For some reason, it's just wanting to put all the songs in alphabetical order. Would anyone know how to fix this issue please?!

Second day of moderate to heavy use with only one short recharge this morning! A few soft reboots has increased smoothness and speed. Am now completely addicted to the screen size. Froyo's gonna turn the X into a monster!

Coming from a Dare, this phone is awesome. I just wish my accessories would arrive sooner and the battery would last a little longer.
