Root How Fast do you Run SetCPU?

How fast does everyone run set CPU on your phones? I've been trying to put it up to 787 with the Kernel in the Raptor download section, but I keep getting Kernel errors and it reboots. with 729 max it runs smooth, never a problem.

748 works pretty good for me. Sometimes I can go days without a panic then sometimes I get a few back to back then don't have any issues for days again.

This is known as a kernel panic, once your system detects a non-recoverable error, it reboots itself as a preventative measure. Sort of like how all modern cars have a fail safe function where if the vehicle is overheated and the engine block reaches a high enough temperature, it sends the vehicle into 'limp' mode which limits acceleration and RPM levels to prevent further damage.

Each phone is unique when it comes to overclocking. Some can do the full 787 with no problems and some can't overclock at all. Leave it at 729, the big jump is going from 600, the difference between 729 and 787 is mostly just a linpack score, any difference when using the phone is negligible.

To answer your question, I run 748. My phone can handle 787 but I've found that 748 provides the best balance between performance and battery life.

I can only achieve 729 mhz. This gives a small speed boost, but its seems like the main boost for me has come from the turbo kernel.

I get panics every once in a while at 729, but not enough to fret over it. I can run at 744 for a while but generally panic within 15-20 minutes or so. 787 and I often don't make it out of SetCPU before it all blows up.

The worst part is that when I first played with all this I gradually ramped up the speed every 10 minutes or so and it worked fine. Hit 787 and played a couple games of Bonsai Blast ... the difference was night and day. Loved it. Ended the game and got a panic a few minutes later. Since then, I can't go 15 seconds without getting a panic at 787.

I hate my processor.

Mine is completely stable at 768. I can run at 787 for a quite a while, but I'll get a kernel panic eventually; so I just keep it at 768.

748 here. It's stable, rarely if ever KP's with the CPU running at 748. It'll run a long time at 768, but certain system functions will cause a KP, and 787 will KP as soon as I startup just about any app.

running at 1.38 quad score of 1896:D

edit: crap I've been doing this a lot lately. Not looking at which phone thread I'm posting in. Those settings are for my X. sorry guys

On velocity 0.2 I ran a 787MHz clock speed and my linpack topped out @ 9.106.

Now running raptor, without the turbo4 kernel, non OC, getting steady 4's. Clock speed is stock at 600MHz, during school I under-clock for better battery life and under-clock it to 400MHz. Phone still runs very smooth.

I can run mine stable at 767. I get a Linpack of 7.9-8.1. Without OC, and just on OC kernel, I get 6.2. Stock rom and settings is at 2.9-3. Currently on Velocity 0.3 + Turbo4(No Kernel) and the new 2.6 GNM. Runs fast and stable. I can't see myself going back to stock. Just too laggy. Good job and thanks for all the roms and improvements. This is my first Android phone and for it being my first and mid range, I love it. I believe the LG Ally isn't worth the buy without rooting.

Where do you get this Linpack and how do you use it to find out your Mflops? Is it an app or a computer thing?

so is my much larger, better spaced, on screen keyboard :D ;)

I'll agree the X does have a very nice on screen keyboard. I've never been a fan of them (hence me owning an Ally lol), but my buddy has an X and I was pretty impressed when I was messing around with it.

But yeah, that Quadrant score is pure awesomeness :)

thanks. I've finally got my wifes ally where I want it to be. BTW moving the Launcher and larger files(facebook, angry birds, etc...) to the system apps folder, really speeds the phone up.

I guess I should've prefaced that by saying that I deleted the stock launchers
