How Many Successfully Went Leak ---> Root

andrizoid

Android Expert
Post if you have actually gotten it to work, Im curious to see how many new rooters we are going to have.

I did.

I was an early Leak v1 adopter, then I waited until the RUU_Desire leak was released and installed that (the RUU that was identical to the OTA).

ya i saw that you made quite a splash over on xda with it. good for you.

I will be trying this as soon as I get home tonight unless I completely crash. I'm going to be out pretty late, so I guess we'll see!

I've been kicking myself in the rear ever since 2.1 got rooted. Like many others, I jumped the gun on installing the leak, currently have leak v.3.

I will post an update as soon as I get this done!!

How'd it go?

any updates?

So far I read that only 1 person has got this to work. It's hard to get excited about that.

What's exciting for leakers hoping to root ("looters?":D) is that it's being worked on and not just forgotten with the coming of the OTA root.

Hang in there; I'll bet it'll be only a matter of a week or so before it'll be in the guide here.

i am waiting it out until the process gets more refined. seems like there are too many variables that have to be absolutely perfectly timed for it to work at all.

Forum Sockpuppet here (at least that is what I was called in my flame thread).

2.1v3 -> Root on 6/24 and loving it! :)

But this was your first post.

At any rate, post your leak to root method, please, for those who may want to try it out.

Frisco! :)

True, that was my first post. I posted my method in its entirety over at the XDA forum. I guess I could post it here if anybody wants it.

I know you are a level headed guy, I've read your posts in the past. I've just never registered here because it is so hostile.

What is hostile? XDA? Nah.. looks like tough-love to me over there.

Oh, ignore the hostile wherever they are.. it's a text field, amigo.

Plus click the

when you're here and you see something hostile. ;)

Hairston, saw all your and Dc_Striker's posts over at XDA...thank you for stepping-up and posting your success and the efforts you've taken to share your process. I'm pulling for all of the leakers to finally get root and you and Dc_Striker should be commended for sticking your necks out like that.

Thanks bro, much appreciated. :)

With all sincerity I hope every leaker who wants it can achieve root someday.

Remember: Each HTC device that is successfully rooted is punch in the face to HTC for locking it down so tight!

ok - everything SEEMS to go ok up to a point, and THEN........... when i am ready to do step 27, the phone says:

<vol down> HBoot Mode

In device Manager (under android phone) on my Laptop, I see:

Android Bootloader Interface

I hit vol down and pull card at the same time, making sure i don't see the scrolling text on the phone's screen indicating that it grabbed/read the card.

So..... then i run loop.bat, hit vol up on phone, count 1001, 1002, 1003, whatever whatever etc etc and put the card back in. on the phone, i get a phone graphic with a yield sign containing an exclamation point, and device manager (under disk drives) on my pc now says:

HTC Android Phone USB Device

and neither Android Phone nor Android Bootloader Interface is anywhere to be seen in device manager.......?

and my command prompt window says "List of Devices Attached" over and over and over and over......................

Am I doing something wrong? Can I really be "off" on the timing HUNDREDS of times over and over?!?!? I am using the PNY 2GB card with the National Geographic stuff on the packaging that I bought this morning at Walmart.........

I am on a 64-bit Win 7 home premium laptop, if that matters.... Ummm, I have blue eyes, I enjoy golfing, my fingers cramp when handling microSD cards for hours on end........

And my head hurts.

I did it on my girlfriends eris but now am looking into which rom and I'm thinking WW but I don't use a2sd on my moto droid but would like to on hers for the space...I have a couple questions maybe wrong thread? but anyways you started this andrizoid so I think it'll be fine asking you a couple questions here....thanks...
1. I use clockwork recovery on my droid but I see AmonRa is the main recovery for the eris...Can I use ROM Manager to flash clockwork then use the partition sd option for the ext4 and then just click flash AmonRa? will this work with you're cyano port?
