Root How many themes/roms have you tried out or switch between?

Two or three months ago, I'd heard all about rooting, but was "afraid" to do it as it looked complicated. Then came along 1-click rooting. I did it and was hooked.

As soon as 2.2 OTA came out, I had to re-root. It wasn't quite as easy to do as the 1-click, but in retrospect, the one-step root for 2.2 was very, very easy.

Then came the roms. Thanks to the help of D13 and a few others, I tried my first rom. R2D2. I didn't like things about it, but I did it.

I also bricked for the first time and was shown how to do the sdf file. It worked fine. In fact, I bricked again a few days ago, as I'm playing around with this stuff, a lot, and I might have forgotten to select "mount system" first. ;) No problem. SDF plus back ups cover a multitude of sins! ;)

To make a long story short, I now have played with about 5 or 6 different themes. Some I won't use anymore, such as R2D2 because it wouldn't work with swype, but I have several backed up zip files to switch around.

I think I have so much that I have gone overboard, have become addicted and need serious help! I love this stuff! :D

Here's a list of my zipped backups:

1) 928Droid Black Glass X: This is probably my favorite one, at this point. It is the most "finished", meaning that I have it just the way I want it.

2) Big DX Serenity (Red): This is the most fun. I like the way the dev has modded apps, especially LPP (as I purchased that). It's pretty much finished, the way I like it. I have a bit more work to do, but I like it a lot.

3) RubiX Focused 0.3:: This is the newest one. I tried it yesterday, but didn't like it because it was too dark and it wouldn't sync my google calendar and it was waaay to dark to view.

I came across the zip files to fix this and how to install them. I like this muuuch better, now. I simply cannot believe how fast this ROM boots up. 10 seconds from the Android screen!

This is probably the least developed, for me. I mean, I don't have much set up, but I can see myself loving this one too!

4) 2.2 ota rooted 2.3.15

5) 2.2 2.3.15 deodexed.

I love being able to do this and I want to thank everyone who has helped me. I'm also happy that I've begun to help others, considering how very, very simple all of this is, once you understand it. :D

So, am I the only addict here? It's okay if I am. Does anyone else have a lot of themes and roms backed up on their SD? (Perhaps I should further back these zips up on my PC, no?

i have pretty much tried everything out there. when i had my D1 running i switched roms daily. so the addiction carried on to my DX the best it could. :)

A month ago I joined this forum and before that I had no idea what rooting was. Now I'm definitely addicted. Most people I show my phone to aren't to impressed. They think its cool but don't see why I would take the time to do so much work to it at the risk of bricking. I've tried just about every Rom and now that I'm happy with the speed I'm looking for themes. Im liking rubiX right now but I'm having a few minor issues. I think I need to add some more bloat. My name is Brandon, and I'm a romaholic.

I'm running the 928 theme right now. It seemed to be everything I was looking for in a theme, I might try NEXtheme and BigDX (blue) in the coming week if I have the down time to do it. :)

Me too! What kind of trouble are you having with rubiX? There were issues with the calendar and the brightness level, but they are addressed with a .zip file update which is installed exactly like a normal rom or theme zip.

I tried BigDX red and like it a lot. I'm formatting roms and themes the way I want them, then I'm saving them as a zip file. I'm almost done with BigDX, but I have a lot to do with ribiX because of all the formatting (erasing) data. I have to reinstall the things I want. I'm also not too familiar with ADW. I'm more familiar with LPP. Is there a way to get ADW to 7 screens. I only saw 5. I'm a screen whore. ;)

Are you just rocking a backup through bootstrap at that point? I was thinking of doing the same thing. The one issue I had with 928 was that I had to uninstall LPP before running the update for it to work right.

I'm liking Rubix so far, but I've tried FlyX and Tranquility. I like tranquility the best, but not the new version. I usually put the Galaxy theme from rom manager on them to go with my Titans setup.

I've tried everything available so far and have even gone back to a few a couple different times. So far I'm liking Rubix the most, the low brightness would have been an issue but there is a fix available and I adjust the brightness with Switch Pro.

I have switch pro. Good idea. Question: Are you using plain rubiX or have you installed a theme on top of it? I have it as one of my backup zips (I'm currently using OTA deodexed with BGX theme) and let me tell you. It's fast. After the "M" it only takes me about 10 second to boot the rest! TEN SECONDS! i'm thinking that a theme will slow that down, however. I'm going to try theming it, today.

I'm not sure if you saw it but there was an update to Switch Pro that lets you set the percentages for the brightness, I'm using 10>30>50>80>100.

Hmmm you and your boot up times again:rolleyes:
However there is no reason why a theme would slow down your boot time, other than the first boot. The phone already loads a theme per say as it's default theme you are just be changing what is already being loaded.

Rooted a couple days ago and manually deodexed last night so I've only test two so far, Incogtnito and Revolution.
Incogtnito was nice but since some icons were themed the ones that weren't threw off the whole look. Which is why I'm now running Revolution and so far am happy with it.

Personally I think it's a tad ridiculous that Motorola/Verizon is going through all this trouble just to prevent us from using features that should be part of the os. Thankfully there are people smart enough to create work-arounds.

SHUT UP! :rolleyes::p:D JK :p

I tried out Tranquility and maybe FlyX when I first got my DX but I havent used anything but the leaked versions for awhile. I am using the original 2.3.9 leak for the most part.

Why haven't you updated to 2.3.15. There's an ota version avail. online? Laziness? ;):p

I was using it at one point but I didn't see any advantage to it and have been to lazy to update to it since my last sbf.

understood.. for me sbf is my get out of jail free card!

I have it and a vanilla theme installed and it hasn't slowed my boot up at all. Still really fast!!
