Help How much is a new screen/LED replacement?

Optimus_User

I don't know exactly if it's LED, or not, but that's besides the point. I have a blotch of dimmed LED lights on my phone screen, and I was wondering how much it would cost to have the thing fixed. I'm not quiet ready to deal out any unnecessary money, but this bugger is driving me nuts.

Thanks, OP.

Well the digitizer is the "outside" part that detects the touch.

The LCD screen is the actual screen that shows the images up under the digitizer

Either one is actually really easy to replace. Just need a torx driver. Only sketchy part is undoing the screen from the circuit board. Those circuit strips are very very delicate so you just have to take your time when doing it. I used to rip apart my Ascend and clean it once a week jsut because it was fun.

hope this helps ;)

Other than the ~$100 that I'd spend, taking a "driver" of any sorts to my Esteem is scary. I had no idea eBay was so broadly expanded, to even to the little, oddly-specific things like an LG Esteem digitizer.

It's just a little screw driver about half the size of a pencil. Nothing to be scared of. Lol

ehh, the actual display isnt screwed down, its what I call plastic welded in, as it has spot all around the edge of it where the plastic was melted to hold it in place onto the case half.

Yeah, I was just referring to the actual housing. I like to use a small flat head to work the glue/plastic up and separate the screen. I've always been able to reuse the sticky stuff as well so it fits nice once Im done doing whatever.

Those little connections are the tricky part that has to be done delicately though. Learned several times just how brittle that lcd strip is.
