It has not been confirmed that the Nexus Prime is being made by Samsung. Heck, it isn't even confirmed that the Nexus Prime is nothing more than a unicorn.

While true it is currently just a rumor, most rumors have some underlining truth.

Ice Cream Sandwich-powered Nexus Prime could come in October | Android Atlas - CNET Reviews

Samsung has long been rumored to be the handset maker of choice for the Nexus Prime and this recent news appears to substantiate the claims. Just this week, a pair of sources separately confirmed with OLED-Info that Samsung is readying mobile displays with a 720p resolution.

Samsung Nexus Prime serving up Ice Cream Sandwich in October? - Engadget

The hunt for the next Nexus phone (also known as the Nexus Prime) is on, and it looks like we could see it donning Ice Cream Sandwich in time for Halloween. According to a report in Korea's Electronic Times, those oh so familiar "insiders" are fingering an October launch for the Samsung handset. It will apparently rock a 4.5-inch HD AMOLED display and a 1.5GHz dual core processor, which squares mighty nicely with previous reports. Of course, we'll believe it when we see it -- or at least an official announcement -- but for now, we're keeping the Ice Cream Sandwich dream alive.

I have till March for new every two, but I think I can upgrade now with discounted pricing. Will probably wait until March because I still really like my X. I might transfer my upgrade to my wife because she has the Droid 2 and hates it. She doesn't need anything special with a phone, so I'm not sure what I would get her.

I've got a little over 7 months left (March 2012). Hopefully some really nice phones will be out by then :D

Same, although if I really like my wife's Bionic I might just bite and pay full retail. (It's only $200 difference) I told the VZ rep that I was quite upset about holding out contractless for 6 months to get the X and then having to wait the full 20 months when I paid for my data fair and square without any contract at all.

One thing is for sure. I'm not flipping my feature phone (parents $9.99 line) to make $200 on ebay anymore. Saving it for phat upgrades.

All of you that have 0-3 months and did not buy used or pay full retail how did you get such a short contract? Was there a 12 month last year still?

Yes, last year I did an early upgrade for my phone and it was an one year contract.

I'm going to miss having the option to do an one year contract. :/

I had a massive glitch when I upgraded to the Droid X where I could upgrade to any phone (even through wirefly) 1 week after I got in last year during launch. Still waiting for the Bionic to give it a try and see if it is needed over the Droid X.

How are people out of their contracts already when the phone has only been out for a year? Are there 1 year contracts available?

There WERE one year contracts. You had to pay $70 to $90 more for the option, depending on the phone. But Verizon dropped the one year contract option about 6 months ago. Bummer.

If it wasn't for the unlimited data plan I'm on right now, I'd jump as soon as my contract expires to the latest and greatest available.

You do know if you upgrade to a 4G phone your unlimited data is grandfathered to the 4G service. At least for now. Verizon may change their mind in the future.

I am in the exact same situation as you. I was thinking about getting my wife an iphone because she isn't willing to understand all the things that make the android OS better. There are some rumors that the 5 will be out in the Spring, just in time for her birthday.

I am going to wait for my own upgrade until something comes along that is a clear improvement over the DX. So far nothing is convincing me of this. I may wait to see what improvements come with ice cream.

Something like that. That's why many of us who got it at launch (in July) are due for an upgrade in March.

That includes me.

I was comparing specs of the DX with two other phones on Walmart.com and it's still a contender IMO.

I'm also in no hurry, but that's easy to say now. We'll see what's out there for cheap when I start getting emails that I'm eligible. :D

Bought the Droid X at launch so I have to wait until March of next year.

Hopefully Verizon lets me upgrade a couple months early in December or something.
