jedii, did you actually root a fascinate, or did you root a captivate/vibrant? i am wondering if i am missing something, or if the exploit has been closed off on the fascinate
1.) i have no clue how to access the "internal SD card" on the fascinate. i can only access the removable media. 2.) when trying to install the update.zip, i get this message "e:signature verification failed"
Jedii,
Does rooting to anything about the Bing situation. Like allowing you to have a google widget or change the hard search key?
Thanks
Jedii could you go over the steps to rooting the Fascinate? Currently my computer refuses to acknowledge my phone or even its storage

Heres a link. Please remember to rename it to UPDATE.ZIP

You will need a XDA login for this
I made that file, and it doesn't work, until there's an alternate recovery installed. The thread that it's in, though, DOES contain a SUCCESSFUL PERSISTENT ROOTING procedure! It's definitely done!
Here's the thread:

10 points to the person who figures out a way to put this is the market the way RyanZA's oneclick lagfix is there... I'd love you forever![]()
Just wanted to check in with you guys. After digging for hours upon hours and installing/uninstalling various samsung drivers, I finally got my phone recognized by my computer and after even more hours, got it rooted. Then shortly after that someone came up with the definitive guide to rooting it with included links for file and driver downloads, which would have saved me so much time but whatever!
It's here: Rooted - xda-developers
Cheers

That's an easy one - Next time wait until the phone's been out for a week.
I'm actually really impressed with the community that four days after release we've got root, lag-fixes, de-Bingification, and bloatware removal. When the first Droid came out, it was a month before the first cryptic, nerve-wracking rooting procedures were developed.
If you want to get in on day one (or two, or three, or four), it'll be a little more work than it will later.
Kinda both. If you are rooted Bing can be dead as a doornail. Even unrooted you can use good old google for almost everything: http://forum.androidcentral.com/fas...11-got-google-widget-works-now-bing-dead.htmlDo we have "de-bingification" on the touch sensitive external buttons yet, or just on the internal links on the screen?

Agreed. My concern kinda like the DX is if VZW comes out and says those who pre-apply Froyo have no upgrade pathway officially. Admittedly there is no Froyo for us yet with the SF. But as we said in other threads we're kinda forging into new territory. I did get mine rooted and it wasnt that bad. But I still feel a tad nervous waiting for certain screens to pop up and what not.Yeah, I just watched that video, and it looks like all the buttons can be fixed to go to Google. That's such a relief! And I am sure I'll root this phone. Maybe not on day one, but this week probably.
