there was mention to the CM7 thread earlier, but it was merely alluded to, not said that this was specific to CM. So, i guess this answer is of ABSOLUTELY NO HELPT AT ALL lol jk

LOL im not sure, i breifly mentioned this when i said i use a vvm.apk but he said he had a .zip file that wouldnt flash due to amend, so we were getting him to a recovery that handled both...?

i meant with task killer, or do you not use that anymore? Ive heard from alot of folks, that when the right rom/kernel combo is found, the need to advanced task killer is gone
 
It doesnt get to the heart of his issue with vvm but it does get him a good recovery, then we found out he needs to run unrevoked again because he doesnt have s-off, we'll get back to vvm eventually i guess.

Pssh i uninstalled that the minute i flashed the rom lol. I dont use task killers...i let android do its thing

okay :) thanks! im still kinda too nervous about having battery issues without it... perhaps i need to cut the apron string lol

Oh crap i was talking about Kings GB 2.3, it comes with task killer which i uninstalled, i never have used a task killer on any rom. Android generally doesnt let a task run that isnt needed by the system. There are exceptions and wake locks and things but in general it does a good job of killing tasks on its own. If you notice a battery issue then i check whats using my battery and may kill something myself but a task killer doesnt have much use to me.
 
To get back to my VMM issue. Yes Matt had it right, after CM7RC4 I had no VVM. Downloaded the apk but got errors.
Found the link mentioned earlier to download the voicemail.zip file.
At that time I couldn't flash that file due to my recovery.

Finally got AmonRA and after that was able to flash voicemail.zip.

Now I keep getting the "Verifying your account information" message. Voicemails are not being downloaded.

As Mr. Ed mentioned, does it take up to 24 hrs for the system to right itself?
 
wait so you rerooted already and flashed amon ra? good stuff.

The errors were likely that it couldnt be sideloaded and needed pushed to /system and the file permissions fixed. Anyhow, you got it flashed, all is well in the world of frogbone.

The message can usually be fixed by restoring the data only for voicemail from titanium back up and then sending yourself a vm. Im not sure sending yourself a vm is entirely necessary but its provisions it when you do it as opposed to some other time within the next 24 hours.

I don't have a Titanium backup, just a MyBackup Pro. Didn't restore any data per yesterday's suggestion.
 
boo, you can wait 24 hours and see if it works, otherwise you might be flashing to a sense rom, backing up voicemail, then flashing back to aosp, flashing your vvm app or pushing the apk if it wont install by clicking it and then restoring the data that you backed up in the sense rom.
