Root How to Disable Stock HDMI Service?

Sorry if this is addressed somewhere else, but I searched all over the place, but can't find the answer.

I just upgraded to the latest Beta of Netarchy Toastmod v2.3.4, and that has been customized for HDMwIn mirroring app. When using any app other than the stock video player, full HDMI mirroring works fine. When I try (or have) to use the stock video player, HDMI cuts out because the HDMwIn and the stock HDMI Out feature are competing.

I've found numerous threads about the two HDMI mirroring apps that advise disabling the stock HDMI Out service, but they don't mention the name of that service and it's clearly not something with an obvious name.

Anyone know what the name of the stock HDMI Out service is?

FYI, HDMwIn is **WOW** for full HDMI mirroring. I didn't have as much luck with the Full HDMI app, but in defense of that app I wasn't running an optimized/custom kernel for Full HDMI either. I had kind given up on HDMI mirroring again (not that I use it that much anyway), but when my current favorite kernel is now optimized for HDMwIn, I'm back in the HDMI mirroring bizness. ;)

Nevermind...the way both developers wrote about the conflict between their app and the HDMI out function built-in to the Evo's YouTube and Gallery apps, they made it sound like I was supposed to be disabling the HTC HDMI out service. Apparently, they meant to disable their respective HDMI out apps when using YouTube or Gallery.

I was wondering why no one had responded to this post, because I felt for sure that someone other than me was messing with these new HDMI mirroring apps.

I have yet to see the need for hdmi mirroring...what do you use it for? My tv has an internet connection and i have you tube and hulu and Flickr and everything on my tv....is that why i dont find it useful? Or is there some use im not seeing?

Well, you probably don't take your TV on the road with you, right? Everything that you listed is very portable by way of the Evo and HDMI mirroring and at a respectable 720p.

Of course, the only problem with that is what I posted in other HDMI out threads -- I've yet to be at hotel where I had access to the HDMI ports on the flat panel in my room.

You could also do a Motorola Atrix type of thing where you use the TV for a monitor and then connect a bluetooth keyboard/mouse, and you can leave the notebook at home.

You can also install one of the console emulators, download some games, connect a Wii remote via bluetooth, and you have a pretty good portable game console.

Admittedly, for me, it's mostly novelty at the moment. At home I'm stacked to the gills in electronics (6 TVs, 2 DVRs, PS3, XBox360, Wii, 4 Nintendo DS devices, etc. When it's time to watch a movie, I'm not reaching for the phone. However, when HDMI becomes more of an accessible standard on the road, I could see me using this feature more.

Cool good info. Might actually be worth grabbing and hdmi for then I didn't think of even doing all that. Thanks internet pilot. Admittedly I'm not"on the road"much anymore but the game console emulator sounds neat I'll have to try that

ooh I don't have a lap top either well not a personal one anyhow I can totally get a blue tooth mouse and keyboard and use this a my laptop.wow thanks for the suggestions again.

Just remember that Sense UI and Bluetooth HID don't seem to get along too well.

But on aosp or a different launcher where i have sense removed does it work better? Ive never used bluetooth on this phone. And if i used it befor eit was just to use an earpiece. THough i did transfer music from my buddies phone to mine via bluetooth...anyhow question still stands...?

It seems to mainly be Bluetooth HID (keyboards, mice, etc.) and doesn't really affect earpieces, handsfree phone equipment, etc. Using a different launcher won't make any difference, because Sense UI and the stock Bluetooth HID stack is still on the phone. If you've rooted your Evo and willing to flash CM7 ROM (or some other AOSP), you'll have much better luck with Bluetooth HID.

If i was running a no-sense rom sense would actually be removed...i can use lp and remove sense entirely if i like. but the question then is why not just run an aosp i guess, because i like my gps, 4g, and everything else to be fully functioning thats why. :) Thanks for the info pilot.

My point was that just running a different launcher doesn't remove Sense UI. To my knowledge, there isn't a Sense UI ROM out there that supports Bluetooth HID. You would have to go AOSP for that, but if you're currently using Launcher Pro or some other launcher instead of Sense UI on the stock ROM, then you're not going to miss Sense UI (much if at all) using a AOSP ROM.

Just FYI, everything on the Evo is working in CM7 right now, including GPS and WiMax.

Lol I guess what I'm getting at is....is it the sense ui or the stock rom. There are no sense roms out there that aren't aosp but have sense ui completely removed and use lp or adw...

I'm jumping in the fray here. My HDMI cable finally came in, and I tested out the HDMI mirroring. Great Success! Next step is to get my hands on a BT mouse so I can actually look at the TV while manipulating the phone. Looks like it's time to try CM7. But based on what I could find with Google, it seems that CM is the only flavor that supports BT HID.... I'm reading here that any AOSP can do it? Is it something that goes with the kernel? Meaning if I flash a kernel tailored to an AOSP ROM, I should have BT HID support?
