How to dramatically improve your camera (picture and video) quality

WOW. Just WOW.

Wlliam. How many babies do you want and when - I am ready for you. ;)

I've been trying to improve the camera on this phone for ages which is so close to being perfect - BUT for the camera.

For all the skeptics -

A picture says it loud.

CHEAP HTC PLASTIC - FOCUSED ON RIGHT BOTTOM OF FAN = Hazey / over-exposed-look.

BACK COVER OFF, SAME PICTURE - FOCUSED ON RIGHT BOTTOM OF FAN ..

Weirdly - if you look at the two plastic covers on the back, one for the lens, one for the LED flash, the LED flash one doesn't seem as bad quality! Why has HTC fallen down on such a crucial component - here is a reasonable camera, now we are going to make it rubbish by putting this cheap plastic over it. It can't be down to cost, becuase you would have thought it would be the other way around - cheap camera, glass lens cover.

Anyway, now we all just need a replacement glass cover!

I'm interested in that replacement!!!!

Thanks added.

EDIT:

As a side-note, the 'cover-off' image seems to be a larger size. (could be down to the amount of information / light the camera is now able to take in? (Glad I got that 16GB SD card :) )

Just out of interest, what would people be whiling to pay for a toughened glass (0.13 mm thick) replacement with a glass to plastic adhesive sticker?

I would be interested. I don't think there's going to be a huge market for this but certainly put me down.

This is turning out a little harder than I first thought, not impossible though.

Its looking like the thinest glass will be 0.5mm, but I'm waiting for a few companies to get back to me.

I've found a adhesive company that make something to stick the glass to the case.

just popped mine out and amazing difference, def interested in the glass replacement, ive got a piece of screen protector in there for the mean time

The plastic seems to be about 0.6mm thick (good old Vernier Calipers)

It may be that the glue on the back made the measurement a bit thicker, but probably not more than .05mm as I pressed the calipers together with reasonable force.

hope that helps a tad :)

No problem, especially if it means we can all start taking crisp pic's again soon!

Any idea on a time frame for such a thing?

Ah dude, definitely add me to any waiting/notification list for one of those if they're possible. I say they'd fly out if people had any idea!

I'd be interested too. Price would have to be significantly less than a new back cover. Three or four pounds tops maybe.

There might be more interest than you think given the dramatic before and after pictures esp. if the glass was incorporated into a new back cover rather than DIY.

I would pay for a new cover/lens bit with pleasure as taking the back off every time for a decent photo for such an expensive phone is not my cuppa tea, especially as a

Damn you HTC . We paid a lot for such crap .I want a replaced backcover with glass lens .

Can we raise this with HTC ? .They have to recall the back covers or send out revised ones .

I am inline for glass replacement guys . I am disappointed .:(

Yeah, the more detail, more colour, the bigger the file size.
