Root How to install a rom on optimus v? nothing ive read is working! help a noob?

oh btw, i think i already know the answer to this BUT, now that i have root autority, and have a custom rom and the ability to overclock, can i download the flash player thing that ususally isnt allowed on this phone, due to the optimus v not being able to "handle it"? it would be cool to be able to play flash games on the browser...

Flash 11 can be downloaded from xda. For overclocking use the built in cyanogenmod performance tweaker. Don't use an app for it. settings -> cyanogenmod settings -> performance -> cpu settings.

I recommend using 768MHz max, 480MHz min, Smartassv2 governor. If that is stable you can check the set on boot box. I've never heard of a phone being unstable at this setting.
 
But how? I loaded a browser page with a flash game on it and nothong was different... and trying to "open" flash 11 only goes tp some unhelpfull website with like 2 settings on it... what am I doing wrong?

Oh and is it ok that I'm asking it on this page? I know its unrelated... well I guess it does have to ddo with root and cpu overclock...
 
Hey man don't sweat it really. There was no wrong statements, just that some thingswere said to apply to to my hitachi screen/android 2.2.2 when they were not necessary like it said I needes some kind of file that i did not because I have a new screen and operating aystem for the optimisv...

Still totally applies for an older screen / android 2.2.1

Ps what is my malfunction with flash? I'm spacing out on something.. what? How do I make it work?
 
What browser are you using.

It does matter. I'm trying to make this as error free as possible. If you had a problem with the wording or anything else I need to change it so that the next member that comes along won't have any room for error. The enemy of a new member is doubt.
 
Ehh the only way it could be better is if there was a side note or something saying if you have a new hitachi screen and android 2.2.2 do this this and this different than normal, and you done need this this and this, but you do need this thos and this.... the pne thing I'm sure pf is that my cyanogen 7 doesn't jeed a google apps, gapps, file where other custom roms do.


Oh and I'm using the native browser that came with the phone.. is that the problem?
 
Did you choose the Harmonia IHO ROM ? Now that you mention it I believe you are right the Harmonia doesn't require Gapps. I will edit post to reflect that.
Which CyanogenMod 7 ROM did you install?
 
It was the BACKside version of it... is that enough info? Or do I need to search around and find a number?

So you think I should use dolphon hd to play flash? If I do how do I "set up" flash to work with it?

And awwwww... I really only wanted it for flash gamea... what happens when you try?
 
Ok ill just mess around with different browsers and see how I can get flash on them...

Oh that link is where I got the cyanogen seven rom... it says that you do NOT need google apps and this post is living proof of that. I sent it from my canogen seven optimus v that works fine without the google apps thing
 
hey guys if you are still looking at this thread i have a problem...

i have ben playing angry birds fine on my overclocked cyanogen optimus v and it has been playing fine until today. when i open it it will restart the phone half of the time and the other half of the time i try to lock the screen on the angry birds "beginning" screen where you go just after loading it.

when i try to lock the screen the phone restarts either immediately after the button peress, or when i try to unlock the screen again.

angry birds used to run fine (until today. it worked fine earlier on my CM7 overclocked optimus v) and other games seem to be fine as well...

obviously im gonna back up my progress with titanium backuup and then reinstall angry birds to see if if fixes it, but i doubt it will work.

i have also backed off the overclock to about 725mhz, and it didnt help at all. i have run the game fin earlier at over 800mhz.

i have not downloaded any updates since i went to CM7.

any ideas of what might be wrong or how to fix it?

angry birds is on the phone... not the sd card.

the only thing i can possibly think of is that last night my monthly time thing in virgin mobile's network, and i need to buy another card... but i hinestly dont see why that made any difference.

that is the only change that was made to the phone from when it worked to when it didnt...


i guess i was playing angry birds on it last night with the overclock at 806 for a while, and when i turned my overclock program to automated overclock control, it fired the warning i set it to when the cup went over 102 degrees fahrenheit (definately not 102 celcius), so i dont know how long the cpu was hot... the phone was definately warm, but no where near any definition of hot... so i dont think i fired the thing haha

any more ideas?
 
You don't need to play angry birds at such a high CPU speed. 768MHz max-480MHz min is plenty fast enough. Set the governor at performance when you play games.
 
ok i will... to save my progrerss will there be an option when i hit uninstall to erase only the game but save the data? or do i need to mess around with titanium backup until i figure out how wo update the angry birds progress i have saved there?
