Root How to install CyanogenMod 7.2 - Huawei Fusion 2

If you deleted everything like a normal rom flash yes it will be gone if your like me you dont for its risky but easier than really installing everything

At the risk of sounding stupid (as a total n00b with a U8665), is there a surefire way to restore should something go wrong? I am used to my HP TouchPad, which always has WebOS doctor available. Also, is there a way to install it on the SD card only and not mess with the phone?

Here is a stock image of the Fusion:

Some good advice I'll give you: Save BOTH the CM image and original on your SD card before continuing. And at least keep the CM image on there at all times just in case. In the past, there were times where I needed to do a complete wipe while I was sitting in the car with my S2. So it's wise to keep it around just in case.

And no, it has to be installed on the phone itself. But don't worry too much, everything will be fine. ;)

Thanks! Yeah I've been looking at doing it but i want to be very careful because my only experience with custom roms is on my TouchPad and so far I have never been very successful with ADB for whatever reasons...it just doesn't seem to like to cooperate with me. But I am definitely considering it, mostly because I'm getting tired of the stock lag when I know it can be much faster.

Also, how stable is this rom?

Pretty stable. No issues here anyway. I'm a power user too and have so much crazy .... installed. :smokingsomb:

Nice work! I gave it a try yesterday. It had my T-Mobile APN settings, it was the same as I had listed before... so that's a bonus! Only glitch I came across was picking out ringtones/alarm/etc tones. It wouldn't play. It could play mp3s fine through the loudspeaker but i couldn't preview any tone

I was checking the CM7.2 folders and was going through the list of apps, and noticed that you had ADW.Launcher in there. I'm totally new to this bought my phone literally just to play on it, but soon discovered it can do so much more ! Being somewhat programming savvy I got me the SDK and all that good stuff. I'm just curious really about one thing.

First off. Could I simply add my own apk files into the CM7.2.zip? and have them install while flashing the ROM. I might have that backwards so I'll explain my steps in order.

1. Open C:\Android\CyanogenMod_7.2_Unofficial\system\app
2. Place custom apk files.
3. Repack.

Would this install them when i choose install from SDCard? Basically i'd be reinstalling Cyanogenmod with my own packages.
And let's say I got ADW Launcher Ex. Could i maybe replace the current ADWLauncher.apk file with my Ex purchased copy? I noticed the ADWLauncher that gets installed is pretty much the default ATT Fusion2 launcher with different icons and a few other things changed about. I'm just wondering if that would work to install that launcher as the default launcher when I install CM. But under settings i see ADW.Launcher settings. Would replacing that one with the Ex version screw that up internally?

Also is replacing ssh and busybox and su with (larger for recent copies) as easy as overwriting the old files in the zip? Will those also load properly? Or is everything in that package like tied to CRC checks and all that jive? I could change the CRC if tha twere the case I suppose.

***EDIT******
Also I got packages that were default ATT Apps and I was kind of hoping to keep those like the ATT Smart Wifi. Could I just add that into the zip and install it with it as well?

hey the stock ROM recovery you posted really stunk. if it would be possible could one of you guys upload a complete stock ROM from your own fusion 2. i forgot the backup just as i installed the cyanogen mod. i canceled just when i remembered but i was bricked so now i just would be super appreciative PM if you want or email me it dannyboy32125@gmail.com

I recomend just getting your fusion operable by installing cm7.2 if you hate it then some one will give you their stock ROM I deleted mine for I am never going back to stock

Yes and with adw.launcher its far from normal you con add more to the dock and have 5 icons don't delete adw.launcher tho its embedded so far into the system you would be inoperable

Adw launcher is okay. Holo launcher is better. You can have 3 docks, swipe to switch between them, and use folders on the dock and home screen.

Well I wasn't really planning ot remove the ADW.Launcher. I was just goin gto remove the ADWLauncher.apk file inside the CM7.2 zip folder and replace it with my ADWLauncherEx.apk renamed to ADWLauncher.apk so it'd load properly. Will that then create a new ADW.Launcher using the EX Launcher as my default? or am I better off just installing ADWLauncherEX separately and setting it to default from the home button?....and your "YES" was to me adding my own apk files and having them install with CM7.2 right? lol

The ADWLauncherEX allows me to have 5 icons, and then I can swipe to access more icons placed into the dock. So purhaps ADW and Holo are very similar I haven't checked Holo Launcher pout though. I just got done creating my first app !

One-click Reboot button so I don't always have to hold the power down the and power it off and restart it (or by using the *#*#7594#*#* to change this) :P fun fun !....now to learn Java fully >.<

Congrats on your first app.

I need to get back to learning Java myself.

ty ty xD
So any word on swapping the ADWLauncher.apk with my Ex copy?
Will the CM7.2 installation still setup ADW.Launcher regaurdless of the apk used? I'm not trying to brick the phone lol, just learn from it all really. I suppose I could try it and just restore the phone with my backup >.>

I'm just not sure if the default ADWLauncher.apk file that comes with it has been altered to work with CM7.2 or not....

Another thing I was not required to complete step 11 of the guide to installing CM7.2 either. All my APN settings must have remained as they were because I had wifi and was able to txt/call from the phone..is that normal? lol

***EDIT***
Just noticed that my Swype functions are now gone. SO....can I just install the Swype.apk file that I backed up from my system apps? Or is that something that will need to be installed up installation of CM7.2
***EDIT AGAIN***
I cannot install the Swype.apk file at all. "App not Installed" error....sooooooo....gonna attempt to add the odex file into the same directory.

And I'm not sure if you want to try and change adw.launcher to ex by flashing the rom it can be installed with play store no problem just not in system apps and the copy of adw.launcher on the rom is the cm version not market its what they used before trebuchet (first appeared in cm9 and requires cm9 files to run)
