i have never rooted my phone before and not to sure how to do it. can someone help ??

EDIT - that is if you are already rooted or have an older phone that has not been updated, unfortunately no root method for the new update yet

wait so you mean i cant root my phone sise i have gingerbread on it even though its never been rooted?

is there a way to restore to factory and root from there?

check your hboot(power off then press and hold power+vol down). if it is hboot 2.16 then you will have to wait because an exploit has not been found yet it.

edit:you can't unfortunately go back to 2.2 then root. even sprint techs can't roll back to 2.2.
