Root How To Install The Icarus MOD

Just thought this might be helpful. Here is a PM sent to me by a user: I've been checking this site out for a few weeks now, and I seen your info on the 2.2 upgrade for the huawei ascend. what are the differences you're experiencing than when u were using 2.1
Here is my reply:
You mean Icarus? No, that is not Android 2.2. Android 2.2 has not been released yet for the U.S. I did install Icarius and there is an overall performance boosts especially when opening apps. There is also a darker theme which helps battery performance. It is just more nicer looking and polished. There is no bloatware, and I really recommend it. Some users are saying that MMS doesn't work, but I have not yet comfirmed it. Wifi does work, and the 3G. I haven't had any problems with it so far.It is definetly worth a try.

Joser does mms work for you though?

not sure but someone was having trouble saving their contacts, im trying to see thier fixes but the chat in myascend.org scrolls me to the top when someone posts, it annoying lol i wish you had full control to read at leisure.
 
MMS sending is not working as of now
MMS receiving is not working as of now

I understand. It is annoying. I will check if savings contacts works. Remember: This is a brand new ROM fresh out of the oven and I think isaac is already working on fixes, but we gotta give him some time to rest. He did a great job on the ROM overall for the 1st version.
 
I have comfirmed that:

1) MMS is not currently working.( theres a fix in the 3rd post)
2) Contact saving works perfectly.
3) Overclocking to 900 MHz is not yet available

He did do a great job, i'm sure its awesome and he'll solve all the kinks, thats the way everything comes out its first time, look at WOW patches lol I just like to wait till everything is smooth, my phone will always primarily be for communicationg and emergency calling lol.

Well I respect your decision. I for one will be staying with the ROM. I do not use a lot of MMS
 
EVERYONE, there are a couple of small bugs in this first version of Icarus, like the MMS bug, that's about it. But I am sure that after isaac gets some well deserved rest, he will be working to fix those relatively few bugs. I still recommend installing Icarus. I will be keeping it until the official 2.2 update comes around. And do not worry. as soon as there are updates to Icarus, i will be posting about it in this thread. I am going to try to make this your preferred Icarus thread by constantly updating it everytime something new concerning Icarus comes to light, so look no further than this thread. This will be the ultimate source for all your Icarus needs, but I will need the help of everyone to make it be that way. You should check back to this thread around the time of the official 2.2 update if you need any help uninstalling Icarus and flashing back to the original ROM in order to complete the future 2.2 update succesfully. Thanks for all your support and for your patience.
 
I wish to thank the developers for their hard work and determination for making this MOD in little over a week. I plan to install the Mod after 2.2 and the MMS bug is fixed (wife loves to text, which means I have to text back), but that is a personal preference and should not deter anyone from attempting to install this.

I have been following this forum for a little over a week and all the devs seem pretty awesome! I thank you all for your kick ass awesomeness!

I am new to all of this. I just installed Icarus following what is here word for word and I love it. I can deal with the lack of MMS for the time being. Great job Joser. I do appreciate your hard work.

No problem, glad you liked it. Many great thanks to the creators of the ROM, Isaac and Joenathan( plus others I have not mentioned). I guess my instructions are detailed enough for even new users to succesfully carry out.
 
OK I understand that MMS is not working right now. But can anyone confirm that Text messaging (SMS) works or not?

text messages do work perfectly. just some side info, the Icarus ROM uses the actual Android 2.2 Messages app
 
Do i need to download the apps2sd app dirst, or is it in there already? Also ho would i configure it to do so eithrr way? Almost tempted to go install it now but want to make sure i do it right. Also can i partition 768mb or is that too muxh?

Any word on when 2.2 will be coming out for sure? and I'm new and a little confused on what exactly Icarus is... but I do know that who ever made it obviously worked hard :)
also how do I make my device the huawei ascend on the device option.
 
Looks like they fixed the MMS issue. Can we overclock on this Mod? I am seeing differing reports from different forums and I have not seen a firm answer. Anyone got any information?
 
i have done every step up to find nd install icarus mod, i know i put it on the sd card however its not showing up on the list. what should i do?
