ok...figured it all out

but now...after everything...even installed icarus...booted for the first time and it booted straight back into metro pcs factory default settings.... wtf...

OK, don't panic. Did you succesfully install the ClockworkMOD version 2.xx.xxx

No problem. Don't know why other users are having problems. Can you answer these questions please? What OS did you have and have you applied the MMS fix?

I have 32bit Vista and I haven't downloaded the MMS fix due to the fact I barely use it...

I mean, if you go into recovery mode( turn off phone, hold volume UP, call key, and power)At the top, what clockworkmod version does it say? It should say version 2.5.1.8

Thanks for answering. That would be helpful in troubleshooting future problems. How are you liking the new notification bar and the overall dark and green Gingerbread theme? Also, have you noticed that the dialer doesn't take as long to launch anymore?

Yes, I've noticed that the darker black and green theme really extends the battery life...On a full overnight charge my phone lasted 13 hours, and yes, the faster dialer is a VERY nice touch! Thank you so much Issac and Joser116 for helping!
 
It went to the black clockwork mod screen. Im on the backup step. Everything seems to be working fine. Joser you rock. i'll let you know if I run into more trouble.

Now I cant wait to get the updates for it as they come. Its running pretty fast. Love the fast dialer as well.
 
9) While in Recovery:

You will need to do a full wipe. THIS WILL REMOVE ALL DATA (apps, contacts, text messages, phone log, etc.)

[- Use the trackball to scroll down to "wipe data/factory reset." Confirm it.
- Next, go to "wipe cache patition." Confirm it.
- Now, go to "advanced" and "Wipe dalvik cache." Confirm it.
- Press back until you're in the main menu of CWM. From there, choose "Install zip from sdcard." Then, select "choose zip from sdcard." Find IcarusMOD and flash it. DON'T REBOOT YET.

10) Now, we need to partition the SDcard. In order to fully use apps2sd, we new 2 partitions on our sdcards:

- Press the back button to go to the main menu, and select "advanced", move down to "Partition SD Card"
We'll need the format to be "256" . I recommend using "256," but feel free to try a larger size. Choose 0M for Swap. Press back and select Reboot System now.

NOTE: The first boot will have odd behavior. It will start to boot, restart back to the Huawei screen and then keep going. Don't panic or pull your battery at any point. First boot will take a good 5 minutes. BE PATIENT. You'll brick your phone if you decide to pull the battery while the phone is starting from first boot.The reason being that dalvik will be reinstating itself. Once you get to the setup screen, enter your information and enjoy.


EVERYONE, I have just tested these instructions and they worked flawlessly without any errors. DO NOT BE SCARED TO TRY IT OUT. IT WORKS. I WLL POST A SCREENSHOT OF MY PHONE SOON.

got mine up and running now...dont know what i did different except for have a few extra drinks.....phone is much faster and no hint of anything metro in sight...very nice...will do the mms later today...also how do i overclock? or is it already done through icarus?

EDIT: MMS is functional now

Thank God. (breathes a sigh of relief). I feel a need to help people who have problems with Icarus using my instructions. I was almost getting worried there.
