Root How To Restore Phone With DL Mode.

This is a great guide. Thanks! Coupled with post #9 here, it should be all anyone needs -- even folks like me who get a little antsy with the recovery tool.

If it helps anyone:

1) don't forget to put the megalocks.dll in the same folder where you installed the LG Flash Tool (ex. [C:\LG\LGFlashTool]). If you forget, you will get an authentication error on the tool that will waste your time.

2) be careful when you download the LG drivers. The download page is full of spam program downloads that you definitely don't want and may accidentally select, thinking that it is the driver download. If you don't see the COM option in Device Manager, then you did not download the drivers.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-...ck-partition-table-tool-lg-l90really-t2946323so this is what I flashed to my volt, like a dumb ass. After flashing the zip and rebooted the phone it went to fast Boot mode, I try to get into recovery but I couldn't so since I was in fastbootmode I went and go head and flashed cwm. So after booting into recovery I did a full wipe down and restore my backup, but it gave me an error saying couldn't restore data ext4 something like that, so I went and go head and flashed the stock ROM and it booted but as soon as the phone boots it ask me for a password to decrypt my phone!! I don't know how that happen when I didnt encrypted it. So I was trying different passwords and nothing, I booted to recovery again and wiped everything again and reflashed the stock rom but after booting I was still getting the type password to decrypt the phone. So I went and go head and do the restore with download mode but once it was doing its thing, once it got to %6 it gave me and error saying partition tables don't match . so I kept trying different ways and kept trying and trying and trying and was still getting the same error. So I try to go back to recovery but this time it won't let me, it just go straight to download mode. Any help will be appreciate guys!!

Since you have download mode, try following the guide in the first post of this thread. If that doesn't redo the partition table, you may be sol.

Hi- thanks to OP and others who posted to this thread.
My Volt is not multitasking well and I want to flash the stock ROM. I've done this on other phones (by following directions) but have one question about these directions:
Item 1: The tot file!:1.17 gb! remember to backup efs parition and do a full nandroid asap! Note this is the boost file but it seems that simply activating the phone will download proper firmware to modify it to respective carriers.

What do I do to backup efs partition and do full nandroid?

If you aren't rooted, you won't be able to. It's done through a custom recovery.
However, I would redirect to you a much more updated thread (I'm not sure how you stumbled across this old thing to start with!):
http://androidforums.com/threads/guide-rooting-guide-updated-5-10-2015.893332/

Follow the depreciated method for flashing the stock zv3 ROM...just stop after step 3.
If you do want root, let it OTA update to zv6 and then root with one of the top methods.

TO ADMINS: This thread should get locked, no?
The info here is outdated and potentially unreliable.
