Root How to root or return to ROM before update?

Ok. So, my friend wants me to root his phone. Blah blah blah, basically he had to get a new Evo, and he just got it today. Meaning he has the update that you wasn't suppose to get. Is there a way to return the Evo back to the way it was suppose to. I had to do that to my G2, I had to flash the original stock version.

At this point (unless Sprint has release an OTA I don't know about very recently) all build and hboot versions are rootable using Unrevoked one click method. If not, there are other ways to root. What hboot version is your friends Evo?

Hboot 2.10.0001
I was using the PC36 image file thing, and when I did that, it said the main version was older, so it cancelled and then just asked to reboot phone. Nothing happened when I reboot. It was just a normal reboot.

This, imo, is the easiest way to root. Just follow the directions. No need to change hboot drivers.

Rooted my brand new replacement yesterday and unrevoked 3 worked flawlessly.

UnrEVOked 3 told me "Error: failed to get root. Is your firmware too new?" LoL!! That's why I'm trying to find a way to flash it back to the way it was when it came out. I was able to do that to my G2, that's why I was wondering. This came from the factory, I guess, but IDK. The Evo has such a weird way to root. It's not just push files, run files. LoL!! IDK...

YOu get that error on occasion we can usually work through it. Have you rebooted? It still says s-on in hboot?
