Root How to Stop Maps app from Running?

Barats

Android Enthusiast
Everytime I try and manually stop this app under the running services section, it pops and runs seconds later, two of them at that. Can not for the life of me get this to stop from running. I believe this is draining my battery faster than it needs to.

Any help on this?

Thanks.

A) Dont run a task manager. At the end of the day killing apps just hurts your battery

B) If you really want to stop it download titanium backup pro and freeze the app. It will never run again untill you unfreeze it

android is pretty good at managing its resources so not sure why you want to keep killing it. why do you think its maps? what rom and kernel are you on?

++1 for the titanium backup and its freeze option I love that app :D

Yes Freezing apps and using them when you need them is much much better than killing task. after all this aint a windows phone. :D:D:D:D:D

I wonder if this is from when you set up google it asks if you want google to collect location info randomly. I always say no because it states that it will collect location info even when no apps are running. I know there is a location to turn it off if you didnt in the beginning just not sure where.

That sounds interesting about the Google location tracking. I could see that doing it.

Alot of times I'll just go into applications>manage apps>maps and then turn it off manually and it won't restart until you reboot.
Although, I don't think it uses that much battery. I used to always turn it off but this past weekend I started using Latitudes and the maps only used like 2% for a full day I think. It wasn't to bad.
