Sure. But KG6 is not an official release. KG 5 and 7 are official Kies.
No Bell update yet. There is a thread on xda that tracks carrier releases
[ROMS]Official i9100 carrier branded firmware download for Odin Flash - xda-developers
hey I'm wondering which version I should update to from my stock UGKG2
[ROM + Guide]Official i9100 Firmwares KF1/2/3/4/, KG1/2/3/5/6/7 Download - xda-developers
there's plenty of options but I'm unsure which I should be using XXKG5 stock kernel or UHKG7 stock kernel OR one of the Frankenstein updates?
I understand everything I need to do just don't know which firmware to grab since I don't want to stay on KG2 and 2.3.3
(yes I understand I'll need to root again with the appropriate version after updating firmware, before someone mentions it)
You would have to find the Galaxy_S Unlock APK online and download it to you computer and transfer to you SD before rooting.
I have googled for a while, no luck finding this APK. Any suggestion on where I can find this APK?
Super !
Thanks a lot for this. Just unlocked my Bell i9100m and it works perfectly on Fido !
Only thing is, USB debugging should be turned on after step 4 because Kies requires debugging to be off.
So I would also add step 11, turn Debugging OFF.
I spent the night reading on XDA, and toher forums, but I just did what you say and it is working.
I'm on stock ROM still (bell shitty apps), and maybe will try to remove that yellow triangle...

Hi Guys,
Thanks for sharing on this thread ! I do have a Bell SGS2 phone and waiting the release of the Bell stock Kernel UGKG2.
Normally, does it gonna be release ?
Does the Stock Rom will be release too ?
Thanks in advance for answers !![]()

I've been wondering..
When I first rooted my phone a few weeks ago i used this one from XDA:
CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_KG2-v4.1-CWM4.zip![]()
(Different than the one above, is this bad?)
and the following below:
XXKG2
Firmware info
PDA:XXKG2
PHONE: XXKG2
Date: 12/07/2011
OXA Poland:Multiupload.com - upload your files to multiple file hosting sites!
XXKG2 Stock Kernel: Multiupload.com - upload your files to multiple file hosting sites!
Password: intratech@XDA
Does using this have any negative effect on my phone since its not a firmware/kernel provided by Bell? Or is it only the modem that can mess things up? Occasionally my data connection seems to stop working and I need to switch in and out of airplane mode (or restart phone) to get it working again, is this because I rooted using the above firmware/kernel?
Heres my phone info:
Baseband: 19100MUGKG2
Kernel version is: 2.6.35.7-19100XXKG2
Build number: GINGERBREAD.UGKG2
Thanks!
Blue,
I am interested in rooting and unlocking my phone, but, for some reason am hesitant. I am, as my username suggests, a complete newb when it comes to smartphones.
Basically I want to be able to update firmware when it is released instead of having to wait for it be released in my region or by my carrier (example, 2.3.4 is not out yet for Bell). I am also interested in being able to buy prepaid SIM cards when I travel to the States (couple times a year) rather than racking up roaming and other fees to use it outside my network.
Based on that, do you think rooting/unlocking makes sense for me? What are the odds that a complete idiot screws up his phone with this process beyond repair?
Lol. It is not that hard.Where in Canada are you located. I could help guide you through it on Skype.
I would. That way you have total control of your phone.
Thw root kernel you chose is fine. However the rom contains a different baseband modem than bell rom. You are the fourth person complaining about connection issues with a non bell rom. That is the reason I am hesitant to flash a non bell rom. You could flash the bell modem back. The link is on xda a few posts above
new here.... did as OP instructed and it worked as described. however, i noticed that the battery is draining faster than before the flash. other than powersaving mode, what else can i do to improve battery life?
