How to use LauncherPro

doesn't work for 2.2

weird, i just used it....

I hadn't before now. didn't realize the changelog reflects what you said, before recommending it. sorry

menu\settings\aplications\manage applications\

ALL tab
then choose your launcher
then Clear Defaults

aftrer that pressing the home button will give you a choice between launchers, and a checkbox for selecting a default

It says Android 2.2 not supported. Can anybody confirm if it works for Froyo, now that a lot of us have updated?

2 things, i just used it. am i qualified to be "anybody"?

also, the app market page says due to API changes, won't work with Froyo, so I'd recommend waiting for them to change that, in spite of the fact that it worked for me one time.

instructions for changing the home launcher manually are posted above.

As someone else previously mentioned, I too am mostly interested in the ability to put my desktop into landscape mode. So I have launcher pro setup in a way that it has a custom desktop of items that I use in my car (car finder, maps, direct dialers, etc), and my launcher pro only automatically launches in my car. I still use sense for everything else, but launcher pro is a sweet app!

Anybody know where I can find a 4G toggle widget (like they have for bluetooth/wifi/airplane mode/etc.)? I don't particularly "need" to have one in Launcher Pro, since 4G only works by my work, but it'd be nice to have that. And I'd prefer a free one, if it exists...LOL.

switchpro widgets. it has 4g toggle. im using right now and love it and it also have bluetooth, airplane, and many more widgets all for just $1.

Thank you backdown, I made a folder and it worked. I have one other question. I'm currently using Launcher Pro. I have no text under my apps for a cleaner look. I did notice though my email app and my messaging icon down in the system tray don't notify how many messages or emails I have. Usually I would see a number over the app indicating how many messages.

Thanks! I was hoping to find everything I needed through the free apps available. Knowing my personality, I won't stop once I start paying for apps...LOL. I'll check it out though. I'm already on the verge of paying for Launcher Pro Plus.

Funny thing is, I'm having the opposite problem. The notification number comes up, but once I check the message, it doesn't disappear...LOL.

I wouldn't expect you to be able to. I'm pretty sure the app tray only accepts shortcuts. The icons that you are speaking about, the ones that show the number on them, are actually widgets. So they should only be effective on the homescreen, and no numbers are displaying right now because you currently have normal shortcuts in your system tray.

seriously? how can you afford to even BUY the evo? did you mortgage your house? or leverage your credit cards? or some crazy "investment" scheme.... 3 dollars, whoa that's steep.

How can I get the info back on. I just switched back to HTC sense, the message icon says 2. When I go back to Launcher Pro there is no indication of messages. When I click on messages they are listed. I'm a noob at all this so thanks for your time.

You cannot get the info to display in the launcher bar. You can, however, long press the background on your desktop, click the widget option, and select the messenger that you want to use.

So I could delete the message icon in launcher and than put the message icon that is in my apps on the desktop. I have seen some people with that info though in their launcher over at the screen shot thread.

EDIT: I just put my message icon from the apps on my desktop. Had my wife text me, received the text but no 1 over icon. I'm so confused.

Sorry, but my question isn't directly connected to Launcher Pro, but it corrolates (if I buy Launcher Pro Plus). This is my first Android cell phone, so I apologize in advance for the newb question.

Let's say that I do start buying more apps that are available. Does that mean that I'll have those for however long I decide to keep them and I'll never have to "re-buy" them on my next Android handset?

Yes when you pay through google checkout it saves all the apps you purchased in the "cloud". So when you get a new phone and go into the market for the app you purchased it will say "purchased"and you can download it. I switched from the droid to the evo and all the apps i bought i could re download.

Nice. Sounds good to me. I'll probably go on an app shopping spree this weekend!... :D...LOL.

Did you long press the background, then select "widget", then select the program from that list? Or did you just drag it out of the app drawer?

When I long press on background and select widget I don't have any message widget in there. Do I need to get one. I long pressed on background and selected shortcuts and than apps and than selected messages.

EDIT: If I go to HTC SEnse I do have messages, voicmail, mail in my widgets. In Launcher Pro widgets I only have voicemail. I wonder what happen and how do I get them back.

Home Switcher does work, however if you choose Launcher Pro to be your default screen, it's not gonna save it. Anytime you press your "home" key, it's gonna send you to the Sense Home. I use Launcher Pro everyday, I don't like the Sense, so when I hit home it lets me select whether I want to go to Sense or LPro. But the home switcher does work, it just won't remember which default you set. hope it helps.

OOOOOOHH!!!! I see! The regular widgets are Sense.

Then yes, you need alternative messaging apps that have non-sense widgets. I suggest Handcent for SMS/MMs, and K-9 for Email. Handcent rocks and is better than the default SMS a IMO, and K-9 is decent but not as good as the HTC email app.
