How's the battery life?

All the reviews have stated how great the battery is and how it last all day. None of the reviews I have seen have gone in full depth.


I have the Galaxy S2 and I pretty much have to disable data, disable background data, turn the screen brightness down and still get about 8 hours tops of little usage.


If I get the Note 2, I am looking at dumbing down the phone?

You probably haven't seen the type of reviews you're looking for because every one out there has been positive. If it were a bad battery, every site in the world would be talking about it.

No, you will not have to dumb down your phone. If anything you'll start increasing the usage of all the things you'ev been disabling on your previous phone.

I dont know of any actual battery reviews but I do know that Mugen is making an extended battery for these things at just under $100 per. I also bought a extended battery off ebay for this thing at about $8 inc shipping and back cover. It lasts about 1.2 times longer than the stock probably due to crappy quality battery components.

I can pretty much get a good day of consistent using of the phone all day, if I dummy down the phone I can get 2.5 days of usage out of it.

Yours is the first post throughout this forum in which the stock battery components have been referred to as crappy.

I like the slim profile of the stock battery. That 6400 mAh battery Mugen is coming out with is the equivalent of attaching a backpack to your phone.

I was talking about the extended battery I bought off ebay being crappy quality, not the original.

Oh, and by the way, the extended battery is not like a backpack. It's quite comfortable to be honest. The ledge on the back case actually doubles as a nice finger rest.

You can't really compare this phone to 'old Nokias' or any other old phone out there tbh. The screen size on this phone is more demanding on a battery than any other and to be honest I could have had at least 3 days on a full charge on my battery if I hadn't charged it and taken into account my usage, I may do a test soon to be sure but I only charge every night encase of emergencies. I have often finished a day with mild usage (one or two calls, 10 or 20 messages and a bit of surfing with 70% of the battery still left, my S2 was pretty similar tbh and I have no complaints about either. I use auto brightness with data off, wifi off, bluetooth off etc etc and only put them on as needed, haptic feedback, touch tones etc are on.

Sure am not comparing the old whatever the brand to this one, and i agree the screen size is demanding, am not saying its bad in terms of use am saying it was indeed more consuming to battery when i started using it with a sim on and as a phone in general. I also using bower saver, disabled the keyboard sound, and vibration, also reduced the screen brightness, though it

I think mine was about that good the first day I got it. Something I've done or installed since then has been killing it. I'm at 68% at 8hrs in with 2hrs 31 mins screen time. Not horrible, but it probably wouldn't make 24 hours.

I'm seriously considering switching to the Verizon Note 2 just because of the battery life. The DNA isn't bad by any means but I would love to not have to worry if I use it too much during the work day and be able to make it home(I work afternoons so I have long days).

Do it. The note 2 is much better. Another upside to the note 2 is the battery can be removed so you can always have a spare. When you register your device with Samsung they send you a 50% off code good towards official Samsung phone accessories (discount can be used on up to 10 accessories). With that 50% off code you can get a battery charging kit (dock with slot in the back to charge an extra battery and an original galaxy note 2 spare battery) for $25. So after buying the note 2 charging kit you just doubled your phones battery life and got yourself a dock to sit your phone in at night time all for $25.

By your screen shots, It looks like you have been on wifi all day. Is this correct? If I used the phone, it would likely be in LTE all day (8am to 11pm or so). Can you comment on the battery with the phone on LTE? Even though on wifi 8 hours of screen time is darn impressive. I have the Maxx now(VZW replacement device), but the Gnex I had before would get like 6 hours of total battery. Thanks!

Scandalex is on sprint and sprint doesn't have LTE. If you have a steady 4G signal and aren't in a trouble area I don't think you will have a problem. I have been using my phone non stop the last 2 days, customizing and playing, mainly on wifi and I'm averaging about 10 to 11 hours. With normal use this thing will be a powerhouse on wifi or 4G.

I agree. I would much rather carry a spare Samsung 3100mAh than have that ridiculously huge Mugen battery on my phone. Same results, less bulk.

Data roaming
Access Point Names
Network operators

Mobile data will let me turn On or turn Off data entirely. The rest does not let me pick much either. Maybe AT&T disabled it?

I have the same model phone but I'm on bell, you are missing the one you need, its called:

Network Mode > LTE/GSM/WCDMA (Auto mode) / GSM only / WCDMA only

HSPA+ is WCDMA only mode.

I know battery life would be a better, but I'm just not sure about the rest yet for myself. I think the DNA as a phone, is excellent, build, call quality, signal, responsiveness are all top notch, and man is the screen a beauty.

I like the size of the DNA as well, big screen but not too huge either. I don't like sense, but I dont care for touchwiz either(though I like touchwiz better) so a moot point.

I had a Note 1 on AT&T and while it is a huge phone it didn't bother me, so I know I would be comfortable with the Note 2. I wish it had a 1080p screen, because seriously the DNA screen is great, but I know the Note 2 screen is great as well.

I don't care about the removable battery, will never switch one out myself, but I like how big the battery is, also sd slot isn't that big of a deal to me either because I don't usually go over 10gb so 16gb is enough, but more options are always better.

I will most likely pick up the note 2 just for the battery itself.

Sprint does have LTE, but it's not in many areas right now because they're just starting to roll it out. I get LTE most places I go in LA, although I don't go to every part of the city. If you guys want, when I get up in the morning (6:30 AM), I'll turn off my wifi and see how long before the battery goes to zero.

Also, I know people prefer OEM accessories, but right now you can get two Anker 3100 mAh batteries for the Note 2 with charger for $19.99. I went for that instead of a single battery and dock from Samsung for $50 after the coupon.

Sprint has LTE somewhere in the world; just not in my neck of the woods as of yet. And honestly, even if I did have some LTE love, I'd probably still remain on wifi since it's everywhere I go the most.

I understand it's coming; it just cant come soon enough for those times wifi is not available. My 3G is 80% slower than dial-up or non-existant at best.

I have had the Note 2 for 3 days now. Screen is set to full brightness and I consider myself a power user. The lowest the battery has gotten on a full charge is 46%. Battery is absolutely incredible.

Actually the Samsung battery and dock is only $25 after coupon. If you were buying two battery and dock combos then it would be $50. I personally prefer to have official Samsung batteries than batteries made by other companies because of the amount I know about batteries and how manufacturers lie about their mAh ratings. Just because Anker claims they are 3100 mAh doesn't mean they actually are. Keep that in mind.

This phones batery life is AWESOME!! I came from the crapy Thunderbolt.
This past Saturday I unplugged the phone from the charger at 7:30am. Rode in the car 2 hours (using the maps, checking texts, facebook, downloaded a couple apps etc.) Then I streamed 2 of my son's hockey games live to Ustream which was a total of 1GB uploaded.
Long story short I did not have to put it on the charger until midnight. I got 17 hrs of battery with all of that usage. The thunderbolt used to die on me 1/2 way through streaming one hockey game and I would have to have it plugged in.
Oh I am through verizon.

I'm going to hold on to my Anker order in the meantime. I figure three batteries and two chargers for $45 is a good enough deal that I can order them all.

Edit: Also, I took my phone off the charger this morning and turned off wifi. Let's see how long this thing lasts on Sprint LTE/3G.

I'm on VZW and get LTE practically everywhere. The only real issue is in my office where the signal isn't as strong. I can safely say that even with moderate to heavy usage, I'm getting 14-16 hours out of the battery before it dips into 40% territory - and that's with every single toggle on.

This battery is simply incredible.
