How's the battery life?

I can't remember who initially posted it, but DS Battery Saver is a great app! I used it while sleeping, since I first posted wanting better standby time while I'm asleep and it does a magnificent job. I just activate it before I go to bed and deactivate when I wake up. Adding blocking mode and power saving mode helps as well, but it's awesome that I can still have my phone on (for people to contact me in emergency situations), but not get as much standby drain as I was starting to have while asleep.

I don't keep it on during the day because I need my emails pushing constantly (and the battery saver turns data off), but this app has definitely helped me out. I finally got the phone back closer to the 24 hour timeframe, except this is with all of my email push accounts (whereas I didn't have those on before).

Overall, still loving the battery life of this phone.

Ever since the Tmo multi view update my battery life, after it hits the 30% mark takes a hugh nose dive. I can literally watch the meter go down as if it's a countdown. I'm trying to cycle the battery from 3% or so to 100% in hopes that things improve.

Mine did that recently too. It hit like 28% then suddenly was at 10% in less than an hour. I was a little shocked considering it took all day to get to that 28%. I think I'll let mine do a full drain. See if that changes it...
 
Came to realize last night, while I was in a movie theater watching Les Miserables (IMO, the movie rendition of a Musical Theater play), that the LED notification staying on when messages haven't been checked, drains a lot of battery (via SMS Popup app that I'm using to prevent the phone from waking up). Hmmm, I may have to look into some other options for SMS messages (maybe go back to Go SMS or try Handcent or something else) that'll prevent the screen wake and also allow for limiting the led notification reminder.

It's this way stock, you don't check the message, constant reminder.

Clear the message, it comes back.

Screen probably comes on with SMS, been ages since I used that app!
 
No doubt the battery life is awesome. Look at this on my 3rd day. I still trying to figure out why Google MAPS is pulling battery because I haven't used it. :/

With maps eating more battery then your screen something is definitely running in the background. I used the gps for three hours straight one day and didn't get over 15%
 
33% of 16% battery usage is 5.28%

675 minutes of run time (slightly rounded up).

That's 35.6 Minutes that gmaps has been spinning battery (in theory).
 
How do I make MAPS stop doing it since I didn't use it? After restarting my device it seemed to stop maps. But for whatever reason it was running and I couldn't stop it. :/
 
click on app usage in GSAM, might get you in the right direction.

Heh, Pitfall is consuming, but I haven't launched it in several days, and have rebooted without using it.
 
Ever since the Tmo update my battery drains much faster. Phone has been off the charger for 2hrs with an on screen time of 1hr and one download and I'm at 85%, that's no bueno.

Check the settings in Google Maps. One of the default settings is likely pulling for data consistently.
 
This is one great battery - seems from all the MANY posts here, that if it's discharging too fast, then you have an app that either goes hunting all day, or is awry. My medium use days I get a consistent 22-24 hours to 20%. light use days 30 hours +to 20%. Can't speak to heavy use. The only days I had a quick drop, the Hotmail app used 30% for some reason (dumped, reinstalled) and another day the Google sync went on a snipe hunt for a 32% use (have since shut off sync save for mail). I think a good rule could be - if you show anything using more than the screen - you better look at the settings for that item. (and by the way, Compass, a new install, goes byby today).
 
In my experience the greatest drain of the batteries comes from the phone searching for data where there's no data available. At work, inside the building I don't have any data signal at all and my phone will be eating up the charge quite rapidly, even if I'm just listening to music. I could also feel the phone heat up in my pocket trying to search for a signal. But when I turn off data and sync at work and turn it back on when I leave the building, my batteries would last till the next day with moderate use. I don't even select power saving mode. But I do select auto brightness.

ah I just realized I can click on the battery. Well now I'm fully charged com but I'll be sure to do it next time.
 
I'm only on message 250 of this thread, so this may already have been mentioned.

I was watching this video, and he recommends taking your battery down to 15% to 5% left, turning off and charging to a full charge for best battery maintenance (or use a battery charger/dock combo instead) for a deep cycle charge.

So - I am trying to make sure that I'm at 15% or below before I'm charging.

I've only had the phone 6 days now (but have found his channel very helpful).

Do any of you practice this type of battery maintenance? Do you think it's bad to do bump charges (old habits die hard - my itchy fingers want to connect when I'm at my desk at work).

Anyway - I'm not sure I'm getting the great battery life yet that some of you have, but I'm trying to get there. I'd consider myself a moderate user. I also use Wi-Fi when available since I only have 2 Gb of Data on my plan.

Personally I don't think these battery "tips" are necessary. I notice no increased performance whether I charge at 50 or 5%.

Only tip is to do a few full charges, discharges... but ONLY so Android will report better battery info.

You won't get any more or any less doing this, just needs a little time to "calibrate" the reporting.
