How's your battery life after FROYO update?

WTF, why does everyone keep saying that? The phone was PERFECT before the update. The hardware is not the problem, nothing has changed on my phone until I did the "official" update That is the only thing I have changed in months. Remove the update, remove the problem, why the hell would I want to replace my phone?

I have to agree with you. In my case I had my phone for about 2-3 months and received the notice about Froyo being available so I installed it. Before installing my battery typically lasted 2 days with average use (I'm not a heavy user). After installing the phone would drain down in 8 hours from a full charge to under 10%. It would drop 10% easily in an hour while not in use, I watched it go from 100% at 1am when I went to bed the other night to 54% at 6am when I woke up. The firmware update was undeniably the cause of my problem, not faulty hardware.

Anyhow, I read through this thread and tried a few things. The last thing I tried was the factory reset mentioned above and that worked like a charm. My battery drain is back to normal so it was most definitely not a hardware issue.

so after the reset, did you re-install every app back on? the culprit is probably an app that works well with 2.1 but not with 2.2.....although I have not figured out what it is.....I have the very basic apps. After I have done the factory reset, my battery hadn't improved much, and I only reinstalled a fraction of my old apps

yes you will lose data on the internal sd card, so make sure you back up everything. I just copied my entire content to my PC, and got Angry Cheaters for Angry birds data. I still lost progress on some games, but not a big deal.

The Samsung twitter account even recommends a factory reset after the Froyo update.

I think at this point I've reinstalled most if not all of them and battery life is still where it should be.

Since I installed Froyo, which fixed up my problems connecting to wifi at work, I'm finding my battery lasts quite a bit longer. Of course, that isn't so much froyo as a network bug fix. Had it been done in Eclair, I'd've had similar battery life.
