How's your battery life after FROYO update?

Mine is terrible! First of all, seem to have trouble charging all the way: the minute I get notification that battery is fully charged, I unplugged from charger (Samsung charger that came with the phone), and the battery status immediately dropped to 93%. I plugged it back in and then walked away for about an hour (so didn't hear when the notification came on), the phone shows fully charged, unplugged, and shows 98%. I checked background apps, and nothing was running.

So 4 hours later, I am down to 75%, and I look at the battery use, this is what it shows:

Disply 62% (16m 2s)
voice calls 14% (7m 19s)
wifi 12% (3 h 57 m 5s)
cell standby 8% (3 h 37m 5s)
phone idle 4% (3 h 41 m 2s)

that's it. I know I had email that came in, and I had sent 1 short email. but that's not showing up in the list (I use K9 and Gmail)
I thought with FROYO we can see what app takes up battery? Actually in 2.1 I had more info when I go to battery use.

so at this rate, I won't make it home without having to plug it in. My husband has HTC Inspire and he leaves his Wifi on all the time....he doesn't talk much (20 mins tops) but get emails all the time (and plays some chess), his battery is usually still at 70% at 7pm!

I hear people say that their battery life is better post FROYO update, but mine is going the different direction. Is there something wrong with my phone? I've been happy with it before the the update (stock, not rooted): GPS was decent (need to turn on wireless network), but after update my GPS was messed up, had to install the GPS restore from market and seem to have fixed it.

BTW, here are all my info:
firmware version: 2.2
basebad version: I897UCKB1
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9
build number: FROYO.UCKB1

I just got 36 hours out of mine with about 3 hours of display use and 20 minutes of calls. That never happened before. My best prior to the froyo update was 21 hours, and that was purely standby with nothing else on.

I've noticed that mine says 93% a lot too and stays there until it gets to something below that. So it'll be 93% for a long time until I guess it finally gets to 92% or less.

Mine gets crushed, however, I'm a pretty heavy user. I do a lot of browsing during the day, have my GPS on (which I'll probably turn off soon) and things that sync every hour. I'm considering doing a few tweaks soon, but we'll see. I'm usually never without a charger.

Mine became worse immediately after the update. Lag got worse too. I then hard-reset/factory-format the phone and reinstall the apps. Now battery is noticeably better and no lag.

Mine is definitely worse and I have noticed way more open programs when i look at Advanced task killer then I have ever seen open before

oh, I'd hate to lose my data on Angry Birds! Is there a way to save that info? Everything else can be re-installed...

Don't use ATK, it actually wastes more battery than it saves. I learned that the hard way on Eclair. And now with Froyo, the garbage collection seems to be much better, it kills apps that hang around.
Again, my advice would be to stop using ATK and uninstall it.

36 hrs on a charge. Better than 2.1 ever was with the same usage.

As said above, get rid of ATK. That really killed my battery when I had it installed. I saw an instant improvement under 2.1 when I dumped that pos.

Oh, and if you can manage, spend the few $$ to get an app that freezes AT&T bloat.

About the same really. Tho for now I probably fall into the very casual user group.

1 call or less a day
3~6 web site lookups
4 e-mails updated hourly
Shortyz Crossword for 30~65 min
and a nighly news recap (via google reader and USA today app)

I get a day and a half on average, I usually run it till the second "please plug in" warning (it pops up at 15% and 5%)

Then again I have also taken it from 30% to under 5% playing games for about 45 min.

If I treat it like a phone I get over a day, if i treat it like a computer I get less then half.

Grab an app like this one that lets you see the average/typical CPU use. Any app you see that is running more then say 8% on average is causing a noticeable drain on the battery. If possible check these apps and try to make them less (ie. update less often, use more simple graphics, etc)

I upgraded last night and was wondering why so many apps stay open? Even after I kill them with ATK, fring, at&t hotspots, media hub, powerAMP, and other apps always re-open within seconds. Is it like that for all 2.2 users? Won't this decrease battery life?

I have seen improvement since upgrading this past Thursday.

On a average day, I take mine off the charger about 5 AM, I can make it to 10 PM at night before I get my first warning to charge the phone....I think that happens at 15%. I got to bed about 11 PM and put it on the charger until 5 AM again.

During the work day I will use my phone to visit in the internet about 10 to 12 times, make about 5 calls, send about a dozen or so emails and have it on auto-sync....lowest diplay setting, no gps, no wifi, and no atk.

Battery doesn't seem to be as good, and its also quite laggy. I'm thinking about formatting as well, but I don't want to lose all my contacts/messages. Any other options out there?

battery life has actually gotten better in my experience. normally, i would get down to around 20% by 7-8pm and i would take my phone off the charger around 6am. with the at&t froyo update, my battery percentage would be around 30% ish around the same time frame and same about of usage.

Mine appears to be better. Used to last 2 days. After the upgrade it lasted from Friday morning until yesterday night (3 days).

After update to 2.2, my battery drops about 10% of charge in one hour of idling. I tried factory reset and this did not help at all. This time around I used different method for rooting - One Click. This one does not get reset by factory reset. I am going to try to un-root the phone and see if it helps.

What app will freeze ATT bloat other than Titanium?

I played Need for Speed Shift for a few hours and drained my battery in 3.5 hours from full. I think that's a record for me :P That app really kills the battery for me.

Instead of bloat freezer can't you just uninstall the apps using titanium?

If that's your choice, it is an option.

I prefer not to delete something that may be useful at some point in the future. I've used AT&T's mobile hotspots (for example) on occasion but don't want it running all the time so it is frozen it and I can thaw it when I want it.

battery life for me seems to be the same... neither bad or good.

i've always like the feature of having so many homescreens, but do the amount of homescreen open affect battery life too?
