hows your Battery Life so far....

I'm easily getting 15 hours out of my phone.

I have the screen changed to a black background, GPS off unless I need it, WFI on and I'm doing around 10 calls, 6 texts and constantly receiving and sending email along with some web browsing...and I end up with 30% battery left.

I also use Launcher Pro and was sure to remove every last widget or shortcut on the Touchwiz screens as it costs power to keep them active even if you can't see them using LP.

Far better than my EVO did and even better than my BB Bold did.

With Wifi, GPS, Bluetooth on, but 4G off I had a fully charged phone at 1:00 PM yesterday. Using 1hr and 27 mins of talk time, plus use of the browser, Facebook, Gmail and a Pop 3 mail that checks every 10 minutes. Plus text messaging 34 times (in and out) and about 45 minutes of Pandora. When my alarm went off this morning I had 50% left and at 1:00 PM I had 25-30% left.

It's now getting new juice.

Very good phone.

I usually burn 10% of battery per hour. The best I can do is 14hrs as measured by the Battery Monitor App. I had a Vibrant for a while and had similar results. I had a Droid 2 for a while and it easily doubled the practical battery life I'm getting with the Epic. I'm keeping the Epic though. I'll probably buy a backup phone just in case I'm going somewhere were I can't recharge my phone on demand.

My HTC Hero just stopped working, it will not turn on or charge or do anything. I was on my computer with it sitting on the desk working fine then when I went to check it, nothing. It has no power to it at all. Does anyone know what this problem is?

Try the Hero forum for that.

I'm having a nightmare of a time with this phone's battery. The second day I had it, it seemed fine. But now I'm lucky to make it through half a day before it needs to be charged. I took it off the charger at 8:30 this morning, and by about 2, it was down under 10%. That's with about 5 minutes of phone calls, 3 texts, and about 5 minutes of playing a game. That's absurd.

My wife was having the same problem, did the 'airplane mode' thing on her phone, and now it's getting good battery life. She can easily make it all day with light t4exting and phone use, and still have over half at the end of the day. Me? I can't make it six hours, and I'm barely using it. I don't know what the point of having an amazing phone that can do anything is if I can't use it for more than a few minutes a day before I need to charge it up.

I have to say that my battery life is abysmal. I know that part of the reason for this is that I can't put the phone down. I love this phone that much. And I've never been a heavy user before and this phone is addictive.

My build for my Epic is 8/2010
The battery has a date of 07/27/2010
The airplane mode "fix" doesn't seem to make a difference for me
I've been using Juice Defender for two days and it claims to have extended my battery life 1.5 times. I'm not sure that I notice a difference.

Maybe I'm expecting too much. I upgraded from a Rumor2. I have a workmate who has an iphone 4 and claims that a full charge lasts her all day and that she uses her phone most of the day listening to music, texting, browsing, and making and receiving phone calls.

I've dimmed my screen beyond what juice defender does.

With heavy use I get 5 hours max. If I don't use the phone at all and it is on with the screen off I lose about 7% to 10% per hour of juice. Am I being unreasonable to think that this phone should hold a charge better than this?

Maybe it'll get better as the battery is used for a few weeks. I've only had it since 09/02/2010. If not I hope a 2.2 update will help.

My battery life was not helped by juice defender either, it actually felt like it was being drained faster! I need to tweak it some more -_-.

Is there a chance that having the brightness turned down on the SAMOLEDs actually uses more battery? Maybe the batteries arent as good at providing a lower voltage or handling whatever conversion happens when the screen is drawing less power? Most of the posts above that have great battery performance list screen brightness pretty high, while the two worst ones (icemand and brick) have theirs down.
I have also had my brightness turned way down, power save mode checked to on, kill all apps that I am not using, and basically just been using the phone for texts, with maybe 30 min of web browsing and can't even get it to last 6-7 hours without the low battery warning going off!

Yeah I am noticing NO DIFFERENCE with it on either... I mean the fact that my phone barely makes it 6-7 hours with lil use is pretty pathetic.

id say my phone/battery is running fairly well. clocked in about 9.5 hrs today b4 the battery icon started blinking with twitter, facebook, and gmail pushing every hour and google talk and meebo running in the background the whole day. everything is off 4g/wifi/gps/bluethooth and with screen brightness all the way down.

Where did you get it so cheap?

I'm not sure if I can say here, but I got it for 16.98 plus shipping for both pieces. I'll post it here: Cellphoneshop.net and apologize if I shouldn't have done it. They've actually got some pretty good prices. My $149 blutooth was 40 bucks.

As for my battery usage, mine has improved significantly over the last couple of days. It seems like it just needed to "condition" itself. I'm able to get at least 2 good full-length movies out of it, plus normal (for me is light) usage before having to charge it in the evening, and that's using the blutooth headset. I stay away from the extras as much as I can, just until the backup battery arrives, but then I'll give it the full on "run till it's dead doing everything" test.

Two things I did that I think helped a lot. One was the airplane mode mentioned earlier, the other was the PRL update. And, of course, ditching the Live wallpapers.

I add an application called Battery Indicator that tells you the exact percent your battery is in, and the icon stays in the top left with the notifications. I unplugged my phone at 100% at 6:45am. It immediately drops to 97% every time I unplug it. By 7:45 I was at 80%. Its 8:30 right now and I'm at 64% so its safe to say around 8:45 I will be at 60%. 20% every hour? Whats going on? All I've done is sent maybe 5 tweets, checked a few facebook notifications, listened to 3 songs on the music player, and made 4 moves on WordFeud. Some one please help me. Give me some insight. What do I need to do to get more out of my battery.

BTW 4G, WiFi, & GPS are all off. My Screen is set to lowest brightness. My keyboard timeout is 5 secs, the screen timeout is 1 minute, but I usually hit the side button to turn it off when I'm done.

three Epics here. our newer build batteries are doing slightly better than the two we swapped out which are newer build on handset and newer build on batttreis. This si based on simple overnight standby tests of phones off charger in same position. It is an average of 5% more remaining on the newer Epics. It is small but constant enough to see after three nights of checking. WE are going to swap out are last original first release one due to this. whether is is the older batteries or the first run devices I can't say.

The capacitive back button also seems more responsive on the more recent Epics.

still in my honeymoon stage so i have a ton of stuff installed, auto-synching, and such. i originally had auto-brightness, but found that the lowest bright setting is plenty for most situations. i have a live wallpaper aquarium (love it, i know, but willing to sacrifice some juice for it at the moment), 4 email accounts+gmail (gmail is the only one auto-synching), news reader, beautiful weather widget (4hr refresh), weatherbug (because i like the temp in notification bar, 1hr refresh), stock twitter (refresh once a day), stock facebook (1hr refresh), wifi most of the time with gps off.

i put it to the test yesterday and got about 6 hours. streamed and explore new music for an hour, 4G for a couple hours, played games for an hour (nova, asphalt, a couple others), check/read emails, config contacts, news reader, dropbox installs, market installs, and some browsing via dolphin hd.

not too thrilled with 6 hours, but i know i can make it last longer with a few more config tweaks. i'm thinking of juice defender...

edit: forgot to mention about the TWS via airplane toggle. i have not done that as my TWS have always been below 50%. doesn't hurt to try.

my TWS went from the 40's to 2% after toggling airplane mode.

Is anyone else having a problem where My Tracks is listed as draining the battery (in my case, 12%) but I haven't run My Tracks since it was unplugged? And yes I'm sure it was never running, I rebooted last night and never used it, it never showed up in the task manager either....

I am amazed. Today I got ten hours out of one charge. I've had my Epic for a week now. I think the battery is finally getting conditioned and Juice Defender may have enough usage data to help a little bit. I hope that my battery life continues to be at least as good as today's was.

So I installed Juice Defender last night, hoping it would work some kind of miracle on my phone. I think it might have.

I pulled it off the charger at 7:20 this morning, at 100%.

Checked it at 10:20, and it's now at 88%

Haven't done a single thing on it in that time. No call, texts, nothing. It's a vast improvment over my usual phone usage. Did the same thing yesterday, and I was at a little over 50%, so this is a lot better. My phone should last a good 25 hours (provided I don't do a single thing on it, and then what's the point?).

Still, I think this will get me through a day with a decent amount of usage. It seems a little odd to me for my phone to lose 12% doing absolutely nothing but sit in my pocket, but this is my first smartphone, so maybe that's the norm. This may not be perfect, but at least I can avoid being tethered to a wall charger all day. Probably.

Do you have it set to turn off data when your screen is off in JD? Because if you do then you should only see 1-2% per hour battery drain (at least thats how my phone is)

What's your time without signal?

I do. I have it set to have data come on for a couple of minutes every half hour.

And I just checked my time without signal, and it's comically at 94%. I did the airplane mode trick, and it didn't seem to do anything for me. But I have had the phone turned off since then, so maybe I'll give that another shot, and see what my results are tomorrow.

yeah mine sits at 85% without the fix and drops to about 30% at the lowest, it helps though alot imo. It doesn't instantly go down you will see it decrease over several hours.. so right after you do it, it should already be helping you it just wont show a lower % yet.
