Root Howto: Free 3G Mobile Hotspot, AP Mode Tethering

I created a Tasker event that starts the 3g Hotspot service and then turns off the radio and turns it back on when you press the desktop icon. It still works just fine.

I can also say without question that there is NO extra charge when using this method. I've been using it for a couple of months without any problems.

I used it yesterday without any problem.

Same here. I used it last night when my home ISP's DNS server went offline.
 
has anyone tried the tbh patch lately? i would like to verify that there is no charge after using it!
 
I use it all the time. I have been for a couple of months. No charges here. ( I probably use it alot more than I should) but it works fine.
Oh and my wife uses same hack on D2, so yeah.

thanks! so i guess then if it works and you dont go to the vzw page you are good to go. at least this is my understanding anyway.

Here is the profile. I have made it into a shortcut that I place on the desktop. When I press the desktop icon, it runs this tasker profile.

1) Load App - App3G Mobile Hotspot
2) Wait - 20 seconds
3) Radio - Set Off
4) Wait - 3 seconds
5) Radio - Set On

Hopefully that helps. I cannot take credit for the profile, I saw it in another thread and copied it. I tried looking for that post, but didn't find it right away. I'll try to search some more and post it if I find it.
 
It's more like having a car. Paying for the gas, then siphoning the gas--you already paid for--into another car.

In Europe the same phone we all have, in the same configurations.. There are no extra charges to use or turn on features that were originally built into the phone.. In fact it is against the law for the phone companies to tamper with the phones or add
 
It should be noted that with the new version of Wireless Tether in the Android Market, this hack is no longer needed. Simply use that program to get all the functionality of the 3g Hotspot app without needing to turn the radio on and off.
