Accessories HTC 2150 + Dremel + VZW Red Case

Tried making vertical incisions with a brand new utility knife on the L & R sides of the battery outline so as to fit a 2150 battery. Works fine.
Hard or soft silicone? I've been using a Verizon gel case modded like that, but it seems unlikely that a hard silicone case would be stretchy enough. I'd be happy to find out I was wrong on that...:)

Update: Just did a TPU case with the two slits and it does work. Hard stuff to cut though.

I just ordered mine off Amazon today. I've been checking back frequently and I think it's the only one they've had for the past couple days. Once it gets here I might be requiring your services.

Do you guys think this would work with the seidio rugged case if you just cut out the innocase and then installed the rest normally? I really like that case just not sure if there would be enough clearance for the rest.

Thanks drPheta for the great work on the Seidio Innocase Active mod. It looks like the factory made it that way. Thanks again!!

I gotta extend my thanks, too. The VZW Red/Black case looks awesome and it looks like it was packaged that way, doesn't seem modded at all.
Thanks drPheta!
It was completed the same day I sent payment, and shipped quickly.

I just finished modding a red satin hard case from Verizon. As far as my work I am pleased. The process was not hard though it was a bit tedious. You just have to take your time and fine tune it with the sanding. Now as the over all fit of the case it was I'm not happy about. The edges where the case snaps together they over lap and just overall have a poor fit. I'm considering smoothing down the edges and possibly re-painting the entire case.

My question is do you guys think the painting and sanding part would look good? Will this plastic take the paint well?

Give me some feed back and suggestions. I'm really considering doings this but Id like to get yalls opinion. TIA.

Well actually I was going to buy and modify this eBay case:

It's $3.49 shipped from NJ and it is item number 220619902016. Seems like a good candidate to mod for the 2150mAh; don't ya think?

drPheta I noticed the red ring and lens cover is gone from your pics. how and why?

mine has a small hair lined crack in it and was wondering my next move.

I might buy 2 3500mah batteries and the case from sedio. IF I were to buy it, could I just send 1 package of 1 battery and 1 case to you, and I'll have that other battery?

I love my 1750 battery but I NEED MAOR power!

I just did this myself to my Seidio Active, drPheta was right, its not too difficult at all. You just need to have some patience and you'll be okay. The case does lose some rigidity but it should still protect well.

^^

I'm pretty sure you can get a decent demel set for less than $30. Its a good tool to have around the house...

Hell I have even cut a 1/16" stainless steam heat shield down with mine...it just took a while and used up a few wheels, lol.

Hey I don't have a dremel but I have a rotozip...think I can do the job without ripping the bodyglove to bits?

I would highly recommend picking up a bit like this...I believe it was called a "cutter bit" or something. I bought it to drill out the headphone hack hole a little more, as I was having problems with my cord fully plugging in after going with the extended battery. It cut the silicone case so easily, I used it to clean up the cuts I made with the exacto knife to make the cutout for the battery. I wish I had used this from the beginning.

Ok got my 2 cases from ebay today. One was the plastic with rubber texture and the other was a plastic pin stripe one. Payed around 4 bucks for each. Moded them with my dremel tonight and have to say they didn't turn out half bad. Going to stick with the pin stripe one for now. If anyone is interested I'll post pics.
