HTC Desire 2

Me want! Although I just got my Desire this summer and it will likely be a good while before this sees a Canadian release.

Kind of dissapointed to see the trackpad missing though. I really like the trackpad and physical buttons of the Desire.

Interesting. Looking forward to seeing the specs on this. My upgrade is due early next year. By then this should be available.

To call it 'Desire 2' after the way the naming has gone since our Desire would be a little odd.

rtb35: And maybe a GPU worth a damn eh? ;) Already starting to see several games we can't play and the phone is barely a few months old. Meanwhile last gen iPhones carry on merrily :(

You never know, if the hardware is somewhat similar, although I expect with dual core and larger internal memory, then possible its updates could be ported to us :)

Doubt it tho :(

Lets hope its dual core and have 1 gb RAM. Then I will replace my current desire with this one as soon as possible

Don't forget that dual core CPU and faster GPU means more battery draw, unless they drastically reduce the die sizes and power requirements. I don't want a super fast phone if it only lasts 5 hours on standby.
:p

I worry about lack of physical buttons. When the system crashes which I realise is not too often, pressing home or whatever is a fail safe. Also I hope it's not too skinny. Need the batterylife so badly.

you make good points actually
another thing is the track sensor, thats actually handy in text messages and large posts/facebook statuses where you need to go back and correct something. far superior than tapping the screen multiple times to get to the intricate area you need to modify

Agreed. However the Gingerbread AOSP text selection is much better now at least.

So its Picture 1 from my thread then. The Nexus 1 look alike. I did like Picture 2, the winmo look alike though

No trackpad...I'll be sticking with my Desire...

rooted running a DHD rom with A2SD+ it's pretty perfect for me now.

I would miss the trackpad, I use it quite a lot more than I thought I would.

As for processor speed, I think the most important thing is bits-per-processor-cycle, rather than number of cycles. I read an article recently (can't remember where) about this, and the example they used involved a slower clock speed with higher rate of data traffic, which resulted in the same or lower battery consumption with the same or higher processing power.

Kinda like cars doing 100mph on a 4 lane highway compared to cars only doing 80mph on a 16 lane highway - speed is slower but overall data traffic is faster, and less fuel (battery) used.
