Plus, surely if we cannot distinguish any individual pixels, even right up close, then Apple have inadvertently reached the very pinnacle of display technology. I mean, any further enhancements on pixel density would be ultimately pointless if we can't actually see them? I think it's all a bit overhyped to be honest, sure I can see the pixels on my Desire - if I bring my eyes right up to the screen. But at normal viewing distances of maybe 12 inches or more I can't see any pixels, so what's the point?
Yeah, it's service based multitasking. The iPhone allows 7 (I think) different services to run in the background, incluing stuff like VOIP and audio. Existing apps will have to be updated so that they can access the OS's multi-tasking capabilities.
It's a clever way of doing it, but it's still very limited.
Background audio - Allows your app to play audio continuously. So customers can listen to your app while they surf the web, play games, and more.
Voice over IP - Your VoIP apps can now be even better. Users can now receive VoIP calls and have conversations while using another app. Your users can even receive calls when their phones are locked in their pocket.
Background location - Navigation apps can now continue to guide users who are listening to their iPods, or using other apps. iOS 4 also provides a new and battery efficient way to monitor location when users move between cell towers. This is a great way for your social networking apps to keep track of users and their friends' locations.
Push notifications - Receive alerts from your remote servers even when your app isn't running.
Local notifications - Your app can now alert users of scheduled events and alarms in the background, no servers required.
Task finishing - If your app is in mid-task when your customer leaves it, the app can now keep running to finish the task.
Fast app switching - All developers should take advantage of this. This will allow users to leave your app and come right back to where they were when they left - no more having to reload the app.
The average user really doesn't give a hoot about any restrictions by Apple. What exactly is it you are restricted from doing that makes it so bad. I would say you are more restricted by the lack of quality in marketplace on Android than you are by anything Apple.do.
Are you just looking at the screen on photos or have you seen one?
I didn't realise just how great the Desire screen was until I saw it for real. I can't imagine the I4 can be THAT much better. It needed it though, looking at a 3GS now is like looking into the past.

The average Apple user doesn't. That's why they buy an iPhone, they want something everyone has, and they don't have to think about it anymore once they've bought it.
The discerning technophile takes an active interest in their product, and although might not necessarily code or root or whatever, they still like to have control. Apple products don't. Apple dictates what you can do, subject to their own personal agenda.
So what is Flash is a battery drain; the user should be the one to decide whether to use it, not Apple.
The App Store has more apps than the Android Market, yes. But honestly, the amount of decent, quality apps is probably the same. The App Store is full of really shitty apps, ones that don't work or are just bloatware. Note that Apple denies the entry of apps that are actually useful (tethering, keyboard mods, etc).

Their marketing dept is very good! however very deceiving. They talk of the Iphone 4 features like something unheard of when in reality other phones have have had them long before. retina display!? a lie!!! they say that he human eye can only distinguish 326dpi when in reality they qualified people in the matter tell us that is actually that 477dpi is what the human eye is capable of distinguishing! See engadget for more details on this!
Video call? Are you kidding me! It's been done for years and not only through wi-fi but 3g. Multitasking? For WM this is a decade old or more! 5MP camera... nothing new though they make it sound like it!
I should stop here though I could go on for hours!
G

fair point untill apple develope a new human eye - and charge millions for it

ieye?
