HTC Desire HD Review thread

HTC Desire HD review -- Engadget

So, engadget's review is up. Battery life coming out as the major criticism along with a few slight design issues with the casing etc.

Debating whether any of this puts me off or not.

Hmm, Desire HD, Desire Z, Milestone 2, Defy or possibly even a Droid Pro. What to do, what to do.

Just uploaded a DHD Camera Test video to Youtube. It does lag when there's a transition from Dark to Light Environments. Other than that it's pretty cool. Oh except it's kind of pointless taking it out on Windy days because you'll get an ear ache!

Review from website Slashgear on the HTC Desire HD:

HTC Desire HD Review - SlashGear

Great review albeit not very enthusiastic but it was positive saying it's a highly recommended smartphone. It was very detailed, thorough and talking about everything. Only nitpicks it has was with the battery (needing a nightly charge), tricky to open battery hatch, HTC Sense not quite fully operational and it's size ('a hefty device').

Review from website ZDNet UK on the HTC Desire HD - 8.3 out of 10!

For the HTC Desire they gave 7.5 out of 10. So an improvement of sorts!

HTC Desire HD Review | Smartphones | ZDNet UK

Bit of a mixed bag review. Not that detailed but still enough in there for you to get something out of it. Their nitpicks were the following:

Cons
  • Too large for many people to use one-handed
  • Battery life likely to be around a day for many users
  • Awkward headphone jack location

Electricpig LOVE the HTC Desire HD! They gave it 5 stars out of 5! Their review is up:

HTC Desire HD review | Electricpig

Very positive review! Not as thorough as i would have liked but enough in there to give you an overall sense of the phone and as per usual the phone does have some problems. At a push they did say if they had to pick between the Desire HD vs Galaxy S, they would pick the Galaxy S.

We love A huge slab of sexy
We hate Battery life, slightly crashy
Verdict A stunning phone so long as you remember to charge it every night
Also they put the HTC Desire HD:

No.1 in their best HTC phone top 5 list.
No.2 in their best Android phone top 5 list.
No.3 in their best smartphone top 5 list.
No.3 in their best gadgets of 2010 list.

GSMarena aren't particularly iPhone biased at all in fact, perhaps you are thinking of Gizmodo or Engadget?

Nope, I mean GSMArena..Don't visit Gizmodo...Engadget isn't all that bad.

When GSMArena did an review of the iOS it was so biased it was unreal and anything negative towards it was deleted in comments, etc.

Main sites for me are

Engadget
TechRadar UK

Engadget compared it with Iphone and ended up with some lame issues like, aluminum extends 1mm above screen and it makes some noise while scrolling, camera lens touches the surface, when you place it on table, it wobbles because of lens protuding.. etc. And they made a video of it. Also they said Iphone has none of it. I believe reviewer was so biased towards Iphone that such lame things was in video.
