I'm sure there are some different views now that the phones have been properly in use.
I must say, I can't buy apple products. Seems like with Apple, you are paying more for less - the only difference is that it looks better and it's idiot-proof. The problem with idiot-proofing a phone is that you lose a lot of flexibility.
Also, I find it funny that someone would think Iphone4 is for "out of the box" people. It's certainly marketed that way, but I doubt every Tom, Dick and Harry would have one if that was the case. In reality, it's made to be as simple as possible, with the following limitations: the flash problem, Apple must approve Apps on its platform and you're given very little breathing space in terms of customizing the phone. I think it's probably the easiest phone to use, and I can appreciate that, however, it is done by severely limiting out-of-the-box possibilities.
I don't like itunes and I don't like that Apple clearly creates unnecessary markets for products which it has thought of already. There's always an Apple adapter, charger, headphone, app, etc that you absolutely NEED to even take a stroll outside-the-box. If you have an iPhone, you don't just by the phone, you are paying Apple with every single thing you do, and if you don't agree with their taste in apps or pricing, tough luck.
Despite my rant, I think it's a very good phone. I just think it should be recognised for what it is: good hardware, limited OS software, extremely user friendly, fantastic screen. I'm not willing to pay a premium for that, because I can't say with a straight face that iphone's overall score exceeds all phones. I also don't like the lack of competition from third-party manufacturers for adapters, batteries, memory, etc.
On a more personal level, I don't like buying anything which is sold identically in humongous quanities such that if you look around, there are tons of people with the same phone. Iphone sold 91% more phones than the same quarter last year - that means almost twice the number of people. Bleh.
