HTC Evo 4G Trade In Value

When I went in to purchase the Evo 3D from Sprint, they were offering me $150.00 to recycle the Evo with Sprint.

just an FYI

IMHO you're better off to keep it, and use it as a back up, or as an "ipod touch" type of device, on wifi mode only. Then you can cancel paying for the Sprint insurance because of the phone back up.

Or sell it on eBay / Craigslist for more cash.

The Evo 4G is still an amazing phone. To "trade it in" for $150 is simply not a wise move, imho.

agreed. it's worth a lot more than $150. and if you need a backup someday it's priceless. i always keep my last previous phone just in case.

I dont think Ive ever ran into a situation needing a back up phone. Any phone issues Ive ever had were usually same day switches. I plan on trading mine in for a Photon. Im tired of the HTC sense crashes and other bugs since Gingerbread came out.

the evo its ok i been having a bit of trouble with it lately. The phone restarts it self all the time, the battery the does not last long. im not sure if its better if i would have the evo jail break.

I purchased my EVO 4G at Best Buy in February and signed up for their BuyBack program (it was free promotion) in which they would "buy" the phone back from me for 20% of the retail value (read: 20% of $600, not the $200 I paid) in 22-24 months. This is of course if I don't crack the screen or get it wet or whatever. So to echo the others here, I would hang onto it as a backup (I still have my Hero as my backup).

I sent an email to Sprint asking for some information. I then asked what the trade is for the EVO if I decided to upgrade to the 3D. They said $49.99!

I go to the Sprint store yesterday and was pleased to find out that it was $125 trade in. So I got the 3D for $75 and it is MUCH better than the original!!

The battery seems to not drop like a rock (at least not in the 1st day). No lag and very quick to respond to anything I try to do!

Why did you only get $125 trade in instead of $150? Was there something wrong with your Evo?

Hmm... I just got my 4G a month ago. Wonder if I could trade up for cheap?

if less than 30 days.. you can do it.. with sprint.. just pay the difference.

otherwise.. it will not work well for you... because you are looking at full retail price for the next phone.
better phone retail.. $500
Trade in value....... -$150

difference............. $350

Other than a little light leakage at the bottom (who doesn't?), I had nothing wrong with it. I didn't even have 1 scratch on the screen and I didn't use a protector since 3 or 4 days after purchase (fell off) and I bought it on release day!

I have the EVO I got it when it was released I heard about Sprint giving 150$ for the evo is this true and is it worth to switch?

My wife and I each have EVO's..

We may be moving to an area that Sprint service will be sparse..

Is there still a market for selling our EVO's???

thanks

150 is not bad...if you think about it the EVO has been out for over a year... It has had the longest life of any phone out there... Also with the way technology moves getting 150 bucks sounds sweet to me... I got an ipod so i dont need a 3rd mp3 player. (got a sansa too). Also evos are know for hardware problems. Better to get 150 now if your gonna upgrade than 0 dollars later when its useless.

That was back in July. Currently I'm showing the trade in value at $87. Not worth it imho...

Sprint's buyback web page is showing $90 today. Someone mentioned that they pay sales tax on traded phones. Is that true?

on the sprint web sit they are only giving u $65 for the evo. I still think the evo is still worth more than that.

I agree with you. My EVO has been very good to me for almost 2 years. My upgrade date is 8/1/12 and will not be trading it in. Will just keep it when I do as a safety net just in case the new phone gives me problems. I have 4G where I live so I am not in a rush to get a phone with 4G LTE capability and can't use. :)
