Help HTC Evo camera delay

ZDroid1

Anyone know why when I push the button to take a picture, it waits a second or two before taking it?

I mean good luck taking a picture of a baby or a pet with this camera. Never had this problem with any other phone, including the CRAPtivate.

Mine got pretty much instant when I turned off auto-focus.

Also, it seemed a bit faster when not using flash.

Nope. I turned everything off. It still lags. This is ridiculous. I might get my wife another phone just for this reason. She is now cursing Android and wants her iPhone back.

If reset doesnt fix it take it in to a service center. It is funny I run across this mere moments after my fiancee was taking pictures with her's and freaking out over HOW GOOD the pics are compared to the iphone she ditched friday.

wwhat type/class sg card does she have? This could also be a sign of a failing sd card

What settings or memory card? She just got the phone a few days ago and didn't change anything. The card that's in it came with it.

You push the button, and it takes a second or two. Major buyer's remorse. I already sold her iPhone for 500 bucks. She's like, "No wonder!"

Tap the screen in the middle and let it focus before hitting the capture button. The square will turn green and sound a double beep. Then it's ready!

wow the delay never really bugged me, but that's handy. Thanks!
Doesn't bother me either. That was just a suggestion to help.

I've never seen a digital camera of any type that didn't at least have a second or two delay as it focuses and accesses the memory card.

Try an iPhone then.

I'm talking about photographing a baby. There's no standing still and focusing. When you get the right moment, you need the thing to take a picture.

Lol ...dude we own iphones too....think shutter speads

i am not going to quote them as.i do not know them and its not worth it to look it up. Even your $300-400 point and shoot is going to have issues with this

Sounds more like the lady is giving grief over it not being an iphone.

No it's not just her. And I'm sure the delay on the iphone camera wasn't 0 seconds, but it most certainly wasn't so damn noticeable like it is on the Evo.

she could have a defective phone..or just needs more time to learn something she is not accustomed to.

the Evo camera is no different than any other camera that I own or have owned. out of 100 shots I come away with 30-40 great ones (I call those keepers) and the rest go in the bleh file

have either of you checked out the pics thread?

Also change the review duration. it was terribly long for my liking. while your cam is open press menu, press on the gears looking thing and change the review duration to a lower setting.

I brought the fiancee in on this one...had her read through it... all she did was laugh. Nothing against you or your wife...we are just convinced either you are doing something wrong, or the phone is defective

Enough with the iphone. My gf's mom was trying to take a picture of our christmas tree with her iphone the first day I got my evo. She could not get a picture that didn't blur the light. The auto focus on my evo allowed me to take a picture in 5 seconds, first shot, that was better than everything she was taking on the iphone.

Here's a picture of my dog kirin. Took me like a whole 10 seconds to get this shot.. I know terrible huh.

I cropped it because my room was dirty.. lol

We went back to the store to either get a new Evo or an Epic instead. My wife took a picture with the demo Evo and knew immediately we had a defective unit. The delay was all but non-existing on the demo unit. We got a new Evo. Problem solved.

thank you for updating us! is she happy!!!???

Oh yeah she's on it constantly. She does say it's more complicated than the iPhone, but she loves the bigger screen (for Angry Birds!), the cheaper monthly price, and the unlimited data (for Pandora).

Now she did complain yesterday about a "MOV" video file that she got from someone that won't play on the Evo (they have an iPhone). I looked around and downloaded some demo app that could play MOV files.

As far as the "complexity", I'm trying to convince her that it's just that Android is different, and once she gets the hang of it, she will do her daily tasks as quickly and instinctively as she used to on the iPhone. I don't know if that is true though. She says if the iPhone becomes available on Sprint, she would be really tempted.

trust me...you are right on the money. i have the same issue when I pick up an iphone in the house...I have no idea of how to work the thing

I know! The lack of a menu button drove me crazy. It's like you're given an oversimplified screen with no obvious actionable elements and you have no idea how to use it.

With Android, if you get lost you hit Menu and there's a good chance your intended task shows up on the resulting menu.
