Help htc evo micro sdhc reading problems

to start off i would like to say that i am new to all of this so don't bash me for not knowing how to work this stuff. okay well i just bought a PNY 16gb micro sdhc card for my HTC EVO 4g. i tried to just put it right into the phone after the fact that i saved all of my files from my old card on to my computer. so i could just transfer the files to the new one. but, for some reason my evo would not give me the option to use the phone as a disk drive. the card did come with an adapter so i tried just transferring the old files on to it through the adapter but my computer would not recognize the card either and it wouldn't even show up in "my computer". I'm just really fed up and i went to many forums and looked all over trying to figure out what to do and i couldn't find anything similar to my problem. i put the card back in and it recognized it but gave me an error message saying "search help for read-only files and how to change them" and the top of the window said something about format f? i would really appreciate some help thank you :)

no, but i think the problem is with the card not the phone. i think i have to reformat the card but i have no idea how plus my computer wont even recognize it.

If you have a card reader you can put it in to that and Go to my computer click on the drive if its not formatted windows will pop up and say this device is not formatted would you like to format now click yes and walla if it does not RC My Computer on the Start Menu Click Manage Then Click Disk Management and see if the card has a known partition to it you may need to wipe the partition then re create one then format. (Format Fat or Fat32)

i went into computer management to do as you said and i did not see the card at all :/

Micro SD Card Problem - YouTube

if you watch this video ^ thats exactly what happens to me idk if that will clear anything up to make it easyer to figure out what is wrong haha disregard the part about the phone though cuz thats not my problem its the fact that the card is not showing up on my computer.

If the phone is reading the card then go into the phone settings and format the card. Not sure where that is on your particular phone but it should say something like storage. There should be an option to unmount the card and format it. Try that and then see if windows will see it.

i just called htc and they said the card is probably corrupt lol. like honestly iv been doing this all day and it didnt work in 2 different computers or my phone and i know its not the adapter because i tried a different card and my computer recognized that so i definitely think the card is bad im returning it tomorrow. but thanks for your help i appreciate your time. :)
