HTC Gingerbread update.

hi

the phone was new in january, sim free , im on virgin mobile, and the update says it was successful over wifi, but the software is saying 2.2 still.

when i check for updates it does suggest 2.3 to be downloaded again!

nightmare?!?!!

You sure you actually installed it? Downloading it and installing it are two separate actions, unlike apps you actually have to tell it to install after you download it.
 
Incidentally, sorry to rattle on but the latest email from HTC has confirmed that this is an issue with the update. It doesn't seem to like certain routers (mine is a Thompson (speedtouch) 780). HTC are apparently "looking in to the issue as we speak" as "it has occured on some phones after installing the upgrade".

So if you have an issue with WIFI after the upgrade trying using the Static IP settings in advanced wifi settings (Settings>Wireless&Networks>Wifi settings>MenuButton>Advanced>Use Static IP.

You can get the required details from your computer. Start>Run> then enter the letters CMD and hit enter. In the black box type ipconfig/all and press enter. The info can be extract from there.
 
Just done the update! Branded T-mobile. The first thing i noticed is that the 3G watchdog icon in the notification bar is twice as small. Looks smart. Oh and the weather widget makes noises now. Love the small updates more then anything, really adds to the whole package.

Now to mod the hell out of the skin.

I'm unbranded? What the hell. I was definitely branded when Froyo came around, had to wait a long while for that. I can't remember unbranding my phone so i can only assume it happened with Froyo.

Or is it just different build numbers take different times regardless of branding? Cheers for letting me know anyway.

im sure i have done it properly, it cant be that hard. its said successful, but yet the old software is showing as still in operation?
 
Any news on the orange ota update to gingerbread? Have any branded handsets got the update yet? Just to test i rooted my phone and went to a stock htc firmware and changed my CID to stock and it picked up the gingerbread update. For warrant purposes i have gone back to Orange firmware and unrooted and i am back on 1.84.61.2 is this the latest orange firmware.

I was told by my local T-mobile store that the gingerbread update was sent for testing " last Wednesday " and that the update for " branded mobiles " should be released within the next few days.
 
That sounds good then. t mobile practically is orange anyway so maybe the orange update is close too
 
Good news for Indian DHD Owners : GB update is available now. I am downloading right now. Will post after the update is complete. I Have a unbranded, unlocked DHD bought in India. Current software version is 1.84.720.3. Guys start hitting your update now button. after update 2.37.720.3
 
I have a debranded t-mobile phone, is this why I am not getting the OTA update?

I am currently on version 2.2.1 build 1.72.405.3

Has anyone else with a debranded phone received the ota update

What are the changes you noticed? I think my speaker is definitely louder and my error 18 has disappeared while updating apps. No other major changes noticeable.
