HTC Gingerbread update.

Any news on the orange ota update to gingerbread? Have any branded handsets got the update yet? Just to test i rooted my phone and went to a stock htc firmware and changed my CID to stock and it picked up the gingerbread update. For warrant purposes i have gone back to Orange firmware and unrooted and i am back on 1.84.61.2 is this the latest orange firmware.

Thanks
David

Yea mate that's the latest stock by Orange. Im waiting for the update too. And one got it on branded Orange up till now?

so has anyone else downloads and installed the update, it says successfully, and noticed it still seems to be running 2.2? I dont understand why it seems not to have worked.

If 405 is in your software version then the device is unbranded and on stock HTC firmware. if it is anything else then it is branded and will probably have bloatware or software added by your network provider. Vodafone have branded firmware but they usually don't bloat it up with unwanted software as a few years ago they ruined htc firmware and made it very buggy and got slated for it!!

Thanks
David

Just a quick question
My hd is from cpw I think its unbranded but it was obtained on a orange contract but has a o2 sim

Unlike my original desire there are no network specific scenes or apps
my software version is 1.32.405.6

Is that branded ?
If so will i.have to wait for Orange or o2 update
It's also on 2.2 only and not 2.21
Thanks in advance

Has anyone heard anything from 3 about gingerbread update? Looks like we will be the last to know again.

Three will always be the last UK network to roll out its updates, unfortunate because I'm also on three.

I had the HTC hero before upgrading to the HTC DHD, three was in no rush to roll out updates back then and I'm sure it will be no different with the DHD.

Waiting for Orange UK to get their fat fingers out of their skinny tight arses is like...... well......... waiting for Orange UK to get their fat fingers out of their skinny tight arses!!!

C'mon Orange, be brave, be bold and........... ROLL-OUT THAT UPDATE!...... please! :D

Hi,

I got my DHD in December. It's originally unbranded and from the UK. This is my first Android phone. I didn't want some stock apps and got straight to working away on the software. I rooted the phone and deleted some stock apps. But since then there was an update out called ruu.xxx.xxx whatever. I could not install it and i didn't find a solution anywhere to do so. I would like to install updates on my phone and as i can see Gingerbread is out now, but the device doesn't automatically check for updates, even though it's set to do so. If i check manually it just keeps going on forvever and it doesn't find a thing. :/

Can anyone help me in solving this problem? The system's got some bugs that really annoy me and I haven't got a clue how to fix them, so i'm hoping the Updates would do that for me.

Thanks in advance

Josh

You may not have been 'pushed' your OTA update yet.. it's a trickle feed depending on network/branding/etc..

As you are rooted.. did you consider trying a Gingerbread ROM??
There are several custom variants (Cyanogen/LeeDroid/CoreDroid/etc..) & seraphic uploaded a near-stock & minor custom version

My Screenshots

I fixed the WiFi issue with the Static IP thing. But do I have to change it for each router its not agreeing with? Coz i've set it for my partners router and now im at my mums house i need to change it for them details? Just a bit annoying if it doesnt save them.

Ok, well now i've tried to do Static IP with my mums router and it just keeps going round in circles connecting and disconnecting.

Wish I could delete the update notifications and get on with life WITHOUT updating. I'm not going to update unless I have to as the last one at Xmas really screwed things up and I lost loads of photos etc from my sd card that it fried. Not to mention all the buggy other things with the last update. It sounds like there are some new buggy things with Gingerbread and I'm not sure the benefits outweigh the risks yet.

What really is different on Gingerbread to warrant stuffing up the wifi and the clock/weather widget?

This is my first time on here,

hi, does anyone know if virgin uk have released a fota update yet or will, as i heard virgins first batch of dhd's was unbranded, and some said they received an unbranded update when on virgin, i know im on a branded one software number 1.75.351.2 , has anyone got any branded vigin ota update news for gingerbread as im thinking its not gonna come for virgin branded dhd's its been ages. also its an A9191 model

Finally received my update in New Zealand (on unbranded parallel imported Asian phone), all went smoothly, running 2.3.3 now, HTC haven't given us the new gingerbread skin though, its just the same crappy old HTC ones, big let down there, will likely go back to using ADW launcher so I can get a decent theme out of it.

What a surprise....
Twitter

They said it would be at the start of April, then pushed back to May, then to the end of May, now they are not giving any date at all. They said that they had it in testing so i'm not entirely sure why they are blaming HTC, who have released it on other carriers without problems

If it helps, my experience has all been positive. First of all the clock/ weather widget works perfectly finding the correct current location all the time, which it had not been doing for a couple of months. I use wifi at work and home and once again it is working without a problem.
Battery life is much better, currently saying 31% left after 1 day and 22 hours. The screen is brighter and more vibrant, and at full strength is much easier to see in sunshine. The phone is snappier, not that it was slow before, plus a number of little touches that have just made it better. There is no way I would go back!

Mines more responsive, had the 10 minute fast issue & wifi issue (just set the time manually & turn mobile data off in a wifi area for now)

Apart from those 2 minor niggles all is well for me :)

Anyone from Tmobile on a " branded " mobile had the update yet? or does anyone know when Tmobile will be releasing it. On a slightly different issue, those of you that are with tmobile on a " non branded phone " and have already had the update, did it fix the weather app problem that was caused after the last update? i.e version 1.84.

I have a branded T-Mobile Desire HD with the 1.84 build. The weather app seems to be the only significant issue it has.

I keep nagging @TmobileUKhelp on Twitter and all they can say is it's in testing and will post on Twitter when it's available.

There is a rumour posted on the official T-Mobile forum that it will release on 1st June but it's probably wrong.

Happy days. Tmobile have released the update. I have just downloaded it. Weather app now working. Smoother to the touch, Wifi also working. Over all I would say that it is better than before. Start checking for updates because it is there.
