I personally like the discreetness of the DI's LED.The LED is subpar. Pathetic compared to the N1's cool trackball led.
hope they fix this with a update or something. i will miss emails & messages because of this
My screen moves left by itself as well. Pain in my ass.

The radio reception issue seems real (at least from an empirical standpoint). Go to a Best Buy with a live Droid display and compare the dB readings and download some of the larger free apps to test the Droid and Inc. Just like when I tested my Droid (returned- keeping Inc for now), the BB demo showed significantly stronger dB readings and was slower downloading the larger apps. The Lexington BB showed 4 bars for the Droid and 1 for the Inc. dB readings were about 30% different and in favor of Droid.
The mobile team at the Lexington BB were equally surprised and interested in the test comparison. I will keep the Inc and see how much I will miss the game emulators (most games are not very playable with touch screen, compared to Droid KB) and see if the weaker radio reception can be improved.
Update:
Most people will not notice a problem, since I think the "issue" may be that the Inc's radio reception is average and the Droid's is amazing and with not may equals. In other words, Inc radio may be normal for it's hardware and there is no problem. I would not have noticed, since I come from Tmo and their coverage and 3G sux. Droid radio rocks hard and compared to Tmo, Inc's does too![]()
Ignore the bars - they are mostly meaningless. Focus on actual reception versus another phone. At minimum, ancedotal reports on performance in known difficult areas in comparison with other "known" phones will be helpful to those who are specifically interested in radio performance.
I can go into a "field test" mode on my Motorola phones, and pull up a debug screen on my WM phones. Both let me see the actual received signal strength (RSSI) along with the SID, radio band, and channel among other things. I Googled and found system calls for seeing the RSSI, but I didn't see any apps. Is there a built-in function to see this information on Android or the stock phone app?
there seems to be a issue with the LED notification, can anyone confirm this?

Ok, I think I got this mail LED figured out, but anyone else with an Incredible and double check on theirs.
When the phones checks for new email and downloads it, the LED light will flash for 5 minutes and then turn off. Then at the next interval when the phone checks again (5min, 10min, 15min etc) it will blink the LED again for 5 minutes.
So for example....
Say you have the phone set to check your email every 30 minutes.
At 8:00am it checks the email and downloads a message.
The LED will flash for 5 minutes from 8:00-8:05am and then turn off.
At 8:30am it will check again for email.
The LED will flash again for 5 minutes from 8:30-8:35am because you still have unread mail.
This LED cycle will continue until you go into the mail program and read the message.
This also would apply to any amount of time you have it set to check.
I've had mine set to check for email every hour. That is why I would never see the LED flash, because it would only turn on for 5 minutes every hour to notify there is unread email.
I'm not sure why they have it setup this way.
I would prefer the LED to flash non-stop until I go into the program and read the email. Not just for 5 minutes.
---------------------
For my work IMAP (push) email, the LED does the same thing as with POP, but it appears the push is not working, and it will only poll the account.
------------------------
For GMail the push does seem to work OK as emails show up right away. The LED will flash for 5 minutes and turn off.
------------------------
For incoming SMS/MMS messages, the LED will only flash for 5 minutes and turn off.

I have also had a few instances of the home screens randomly jumping back and forth. Locking the phone and letting it sit for a minute tends to take care of it but I'm thinking it's related to the optical joystick so I'm going to try and fiddle with that a little next time it happens. If it becomes a more prevalent issue then I'll take it back to the store for an exchange.
I live in the Chicago South Suburbs, I've read everyones comments regarding signal strength and pretty much everyone agrees that the phone is possibly simply not reporting the correct signal strength.Well I've been with verizon for 15 years and coming from an LG enV touch to a Motorola Droid and now the HTC Incredible... My 3g service was always Fantastic on my LG, Then I upgraded to the Motorola Droid and it was pretty good but the LG was better and now I own the HTC Incredible. When I switched to the Motorola Droid my biggest complaint was people complainning that my voice sounded muffled, I complained to Verizon and they offered no solution other than returning the phone but I COULDN'T do it, I fell in love with the android operating system and the speed of the phone but compared to my friends Iphone 3gs the phone lacked in allot of areas but was the best phone Verizon offered at the time, I was patiently waiting for their next FLAGSHIP phone and didn't expect one to come so soon, now I own the HTC Incredible and although this phone is (INCREDIBLE) in many ways, the signal strength truly sucks!!!!!!!!!! even when i'm at home on wi-fi the signal is 3 bars at its highest, (THE MOTOROLA DROID WAS ALWAYS FULL STRENGTH ON WI-FI) Once again, there isn't a damn thing I can do about it!! because i'm otherwise in love with this phone and just wont and can't go back to my Moto Droid (Besides I sold it) This phone seems to function pretty quickly even at 1 bar, so I guess I can somewhat agree but it is jumping to 1x in areas that my motorola never did and in 1x this phone CRAWLS Anyway I think we do have a RECEPTION issue but until we stop making excuses for this phone simply because we all otherwise love our new toy, I fear it will never get resolved. ANYWAY my 2 centsi'm in philly area and have had reception issues where I never had them before with my blackberry. call quality been terrible so far
Main problem for me is email. I use Gmail and want to be able to send email from separate accounts, like you can online. This is a MAJOR failure, and pretty sad when you consider this is a Google centric phone aimed at communication.
So what apps do we think we cannot see on the Incredible? Played with one at work today for a while and everything I use worked on there. What can I look at for you guys?
And I'm sure the apps will be updated to look for internal storage when the phone is officially released.
MP3 DOWNLOAD workes for me but had to use ASTRO file manager to locate the songI have downloaded three seperate mp3 apps on my Incredible, including music junk and music wizard but neither of them will download any mp3's the all say failed or has incorrect sysmbols. tried several different songs as well with no change. Any ideas?
