Help .: HTC Incredible :. Known Issues / Bug Reports / Hardware Issues

Anyone having an issue with HTC friend stream not syncing? Mine was fine, all of sudden just not syncing. I have it set to sync every hour. Any suggestions? or Posts?

i've had my incredible since the release and the past couple of days when i made or received calls sometimes they couldnt hear me but i could hear them n it worked fine only after i shut off phone n restart it...anyone else have this problem???

This is my problem as well. Also went with a quick re-start in order to solve the problem. Should I return my phone or is there a quick fix?

I had this problem, too, but it stopped happening about a month ago. I would be willing to bet it's app related, and it was caused by something I uninstalled. What applications are you currently using? I can tell you which ones I had but got rid of.

Just a lil info that I read in another forum..... apparently the number of signal bars doesn't necessarily mean they type of signal you are receiving.... meaning just because your moto droid showed 4 bars and your incredible shows 2 doesn't mean one has a better signal than the other. They both may have the same just show it differently on the main screen. i believe there is a place under settings where you can view the actual signal strength... someone help me if they are reading this.

Apps I downloaded:

Paper Toss
Mobisle Notes
CNBC
NFL
Where
Advanced Task Killer

I think that's it.

I'd be willing to bet it has something to do with advanced task killer. I got rid of it and use SystemPanelLite now. You really shouldn't use something that automatically kills tasks. Just kill them manually as needed (which is almost never).

Yup. The dB level is the true reception strength (lower is better i.e -75 is better than -100). Go to:

menu>settings>about phone>network

Actually, -75 is HIGHER than -100, not lower. Think of it this way - which number is closer to zero? That is the stronger signal.

Just my 2c

here is my list of bug or issues...nothing that makes me want to return phone but would love to see fixed.

2) Open a list of your phone's downloaded apps in the Marketplace>Downloads or in Settings>applications>manage applications and it ISN'T in alphabetical order - Very Annoying. Isnt 1gig enough power to be able to alphabetize a simple list!

The market place is an apps that just doesn't have a sort option. But for the Settings>applications>manage applications select menu SORT. It toggles between size and A-Z

My phone turned into absolute crap. Started freezing, opening apps and pushing buttons by itself,

I had a issue like this from a too tight hard case and again when I but a new battery in that made the back snap in really tight, as the battery was a hair bigger. The hard case was installed over a BestSkin which also made it real tight. In both cases it acted like what you describe. Took off label on battery and fixed that ( I knew what it was due to the hard case issue which happened first).Removed the extra best skin to fix it the case issue. In short if's your squeezing your Inc it doesn't like it and causes the screen to act like someone is touching it all over. :)

1) If you dial number without area code the phone doesn't grab the corresponding contact, if the phone number in the contact info includes the area code. If I manually dial one of my contacts, my call log show a call to "Unknown", even though I called a contact, so if I go to call a 2nd time I can't use the recent call log because it has no name, and the phone number under the word "Unknown" is too small to read...called 611 about this and they did not consider this an issue. Customer Service said I should just use People app to make calls or use that feature where you dial the letters of the persons name. Come on, the phone should recognize the phone number I just dialed is the same phone number as the last 7 digits of a contact number...even my env2 pulled the contact if I dialed it without the area code.

I came here looking for a solution to #1 (above)....I hate to go to a 3rd party app for something so simple, but 1st party software is lacking here....is there an app that will/can resolve this??

My phone started randomly rebooting yesterday on the way home. It wouldnt even get to main home screen. It was just stuck in a cycle of reboots. It was incredibly (no pun intended) HOT and eventually got stuck on the "HTC white screen" until I got home and was able to pull the battery out. It cooled off a bit and I powered it back on and it seemed to be fine.

This morning it rebooted again but this time made it to the main home screen no problem.

I'm hoping this is not the beginning of the end of it.

Anybody else have any reboot cycling problems?

Just fyi... some of your questions should be posted in the Support Sub-Topic is more people will see it there to answer them. They get lost here as this thread is to report bugs. Just trying to be helpful.

so, all in all not many bugs, more preferences... I can live with that. My moto droid would mute me out when I was in a call too. Turns out my jaw bone was hitting the mute button :)

does anyone else notice that other verizon phones get better service then there HTC Incredible? I have had some problems with reception on my Incredible.

This is not necessarily true. As other threads have noted (and a few answers ^^above^^), this is a software based, signal reporting issue. check your network settings to check signal strength. Settings -> About phone -> Network. An OTA update, rumored to be out "soon" is to take care of this.

As for an issue: It's more of a quirk. On the stock keyboard there isn't an easy key to get an apostrophe ( ' ) with a single touch. Its either a long press, digging into the symbols. Or hoping the dictionary/spell check gets it right. Usually it does but i wish there was one on top

The connection on the side of the phone for charging seems like it may be loose or something, cause sometimes if i have the phone sitting a certain way on a table while charging it wont charge unless i wiggle the cable a little while its plugged into the phone. also it seems to get pretty warm when charging and even worse when its on the car charger. is that normal? does anybody else have a problem charging the phone?

I'm having problems with the contact info...Pictures I apply to contacts disappear minutes after I enter them. I can watch them disappear before my very eyes. Also, ringtones i assign to specific contacts sometimes disappear too. The guy at the verizon store watched in amazement. He thought i had a bad phone - replaced it, and the new phone had the same problem. The Verizon tech people thought it might be the contact/calendar preogram with which i sync (Time and Chaos) but i cleared out my contacts (using the wonderful app "Contact Remover") - turned off sync, entered a contact manually and the same thing happened. It's annoying not to know who's calling either visually or audibly and i hope somehow this gets addressed.

Ah known problems...lets see I have tones. I got a lemon of a phone thats for sure. First off, Ive had the phone for 5 days after waiting a month(my new one is on the way and will arrive in 2 weeks LAME). It stopped recognizing the charger and will not charge. It will ONLY charge if I turn off the phone, take out the battery, plug in the charger, reinsert the battery and do NOT turn the phone back on. The battery lasts about 2-3 hours after a full charge with hardly andy use. It will not charge from USB unless i do ALL the steps above. It gives me a message saying that the Charger is the wrong charger and it will damage the phone (its the HTC charger that came with the phone.) I even took it to Verizon and tried the charger that was on display plugged into the Incredible & it gave me the same error message. Second, I was using a QR scanner to DL apps and it worked fine the first 5 times I used it and now it stopped working and Forces Close. I DONT have my phone rooted and I know a good amount about electronics, so I'm not messing with it or overclocking. I dont use a task manager or Anti virus because I read all about the android system and its better to not use them. I have not DL any bad apps because I never got the chance to HA. Any ideas? Is thing a Lemon or what?

Oh yeah and it Reboots on its own...alot. Annoying. If the next one is this messed up, I'm gonna just wait for the next incredible maybe called the "Actually Incredible This Time"
