HTC Inspire Battery Experiences...

Well I have a pretty good signal in my area, I have picked up your charging habits, and other sync options. I really can't tell you what is so different Andrea. Do you think a total restore of the phone would help or just a replacement?

Well before I replaced it I would definitely try the restore. With this phone especially it will restore everything in place. Once you do that start the charging etc from scratch and see after a few days how it does

Well I completed the restore. But on the sd card I removed a folder .footprints does this matter? I tried to add it back and it won't let me... Ask me to type a file name? Aside from that phone seems responsive. I'll test it for a few w/o any added apps.

Update. The battery widget I'm using is unreliable. Turned it off to charge last night but it now reads that I'm at1 day 5 hours since last charged at 68% battery life. :(

Well, either is a broken battery widget or my battery went from sickly to super powered by some miraculous evolution.

I'd say it's the former.

I honestly can't believe the complaints about the Inspire battery. Granted I am coming from the Captivate and well, 6 hours max of battery life was just unbareable, but I can get over 12 hours or more on one charge with my Inspire battery with moderate use. I took my phone off the charger this morning at 7:10 am. It is now 9:44 PM and I am still rocking 58%.

Now, let me say that I have had very very lite use of the phone today, exactly ZERO phone calls, 2 SMS received messages, background data sync turned on for Twitter and Facebook, and just 80 exchange emails. I also have had WiFi on all day since I have been home a bit under the weather except for one trip to the store.

As a test, I also had my captivate on all day with basically the same settings, minus the emails and SMS messages. The battery on the Captivate died at about 7.5 hours. (about 5%)

I am starting to believe that some of you have received crappy batteries. I have read some many complaints on the battery life on here and XDA forums that its hard to believe.

I am getting the Atrix tomorrow. I am going to decide which phone I am keeping in the next week or so. If I decide to return my Inspire, I am willing to trade batteries with someone having issues with theirs before I return it so maybe someone can improve their experience. Of course, I would need you to send me yours so I can return my Inspire properly.

Curious...

If I used the ADW.Elegant - theme & ADW.Launcher (alternative to Sense) and thus only have two\three home screens (only with icons, no widgets); that should conserve my battery life on my HTC, no?

Please keep us informed on the atrix.

In theory, yes. How you setup syncing various apps will have the greatest impact on your battery.

There are plenty of replacement batteries on ebay that fit the Desire HD and the Inspire 4G. They are 1500 or 1600 vs the OEM 1230 battery. I just ordered a set of 2 with a charger for $11.

It's highly likely that those are not quality batteries, and may not be a full 1500 or 1600. And they could potentially do permanent damage to your phone.

No legit, quality replacement battery is going to cost $11 (much less for 2 batteries and a charger).

I disabled the "always-on mobile data" option yesterday and it's making a difference. I pulled my phone off the charger this morning at 3:30 am (couldn't sleep) checked facebook/youtube for 15 minutes on wifi then went back to sleep. It's been on all day with the syncing turned on/off randomly through the day though sometimes I left it on for a few hours. I've been surfing the web (3+ hours) phone calls, texting emails etc.

My emails from 7am to 4pm sync every 15 minutes (regardless of whether the background sync is enabled or not) and texts come through no matter what. Bluetooth is on when I'm in the car, wifi is on when I'm on the web.

It's been on for 17 hours and I have 30% battery life left.

Use stats:
Display 66%
Cell Standby 7%
Phone idle 5%
Android System 5%
Screebl Lite 5%
Voice Calls 4%
Dolphin Browser 3%
Tasker 3%
...

I've uninstalled JuiceDefender and Advanced Task Killer, but I am using System Panel to kill programs once in a while. I've found my solution... I only have to charge once a day now!

Today, I've been running the Sense, but, I've had no widgets running, just icons...

Thus far, my stats read: 16hrs 35 mins and 58% left...
Up time: 17:57:03
Awake time: 03:41:05

Now, having said that, I also installed Advanced Task Killer. Not sure how much of an affect that is having...

This is bizarre. The first couple days, my phone would go 9 to 11 hours and then die. I have tried training it, installed juice defender, micromanage my wifi/bluetooth/data syn settings and charge it while its off.. to be honest..none of that really helped at first..meh..

The last day or so....my battery has suddenly started working amazingly.

Today i did a "quick charge" while taking a shower after my 3 hour drive (maybe 30 minutes) as i had resigned myself to having to charge the phone EVERY CHANCE I GOT...

I got it up to 86%....

Fast foward 8 hours and 31 minutes, im at 42%.....

At this rate of improvement ill have a 72 hour battery after another week of "training"...

I am truely stumped by these results....

Ok, so I'm going to rant for just one second...please bear with me.

I have almost completely stopped coming to this forum. Why? Because every day we have 2-3 battery threads that constantly are being bumped. I don't care to read about the battery on this phone anymore. It's getting utterly ridiculous. People, you cant just plug your phone in and expect it to last 3 days. You have to condition it, and take steps to increase the life from a charge.

You don't hop into your car on a cold morning and drive it ala NASCAR. You have to let it warm up. You have to change the oil and not let the fuel tank run dry. You HAVE TO TAKE STEPS to increase the life of a car. Preventative maintenance, etc. Why should your phone be any different. There is TONS of information on how to ensure your phone lasts a long time and there are PLENTY of people on this forum who have posted stating that they are not having ANY ISSUES WHATSOEVER with the battery on this phone.

I have to think people are either not paying attention and killing tasks/not conditioning the battery OR they have a bad battery. Its not a difficult task to complete a few easy steps in order to prevent these issues. Please, educate yourselves and employ these tactics in order to fully enjoy your phones!

I have to agree it seems that some people on here dont look they just post but smile my friend its all good :)

@Blanco720, I feel you on this. But, I will say this, as a gadget lover, I don't see why when I buy a new device I have to go through the motions of either conditioning a battery, or even more drastic, 'turning' off certain options to just get 10-12 hours of use...

In addition, I hate that the manufactures state things like, "standby 5-7 days", and stuff like that. It drives me mad, especially when you get the device and can't even use it for a full solid day...
