HTC Inspire Battery Experiences...

There you go again, spreading misinformation. Please cite a video or a forum in which there is quantifiable proof that the battery has a small capacity/life.

I won't waste my time waiting.

I'm basing that are some of the posts here from your arguments in general, not specifically about the Inspire. You misread.

It's obvious a few are a little sensitive when it comes to the Inspire. Geez talk about getting attached!

So Allen...just to be clear Im understanding this correctly.....the fact this device has a "more efficient" chip means it should get the average, comparable battery life for a smartphone?

My opinion is yes...but i am allowing for it to be maybe 5% to 10% less on a "bad day"..admitting its a very small battery but more efficient would be ..

Wild guessing it...more like a 1400mah battery compared to a 1600mah battery....(rather than a 1230mah battery compared to a 1600)..because of its improved efficiency..so is "a little" weaker, but not "a lot weaker".

Thanks for your help! Like I said in my first post, I need this as my primary phone at work, so I need at least a baseline, decent level of battery life. Not looking to go days on end....just need to get a good day's work out of it :)

Im still recommending an external "pocket" back up battery for everyone....never a bad thing. If $39.00 is too much then you can get one of the 1800mah ones that are even smaller for around $19.00 i think. it can charge while in your pocket, lap top bag, desk drawer, subway, you name it (works any where).

Honestly i recommend these for ANY cell phone (even the atrix) as they are just good to have period.

Cars can go 125 MPH all day long, too. But doing so isnt a good thing and beyond what they are designed to do. Same principal here. If you are going to use the device heavily....too heavily...than you cannot expect or DEMAND an unrealistic level of performance.

What *I* am asking is that for a "middle of the road" level of usage (2 some odd hours per day of talk, email, apps, an occasional video or game break, texting, etc.) will this thing make it to bedtime?

This is actually a good comparison if you push your car always exccelarating not only is it bad for.your vehicle but your gas mileage will decrease significantly. So its the same with a phone. When you use it normally you will get a day a day plus if you put the pedal to the medal you can't expect the same

For the most part...it doesnt hurt the car at all....(except maybe for the suspension)..but it is VERY dangerous for you...(and will suck gas about %300 the normal rate)

PS..my mustang can do 125 in fourth gear without even being that close to redline...haha. 5th gear gets you well into the mid to upper 130s (with 1 more gear still left untouched..ha ha)

Yes that's all true but the gas mileage was my point lol the 2011 stang is awesome

But you know what I mean....you cant tdrive like that and then bitch about mileage.

On the other hand...and relating to phones...if youre doing 55-75 and getting lousy mileage...not good. I guess I just want to make sure the Insipire will get good mileage.

This brings up a good point...

The inspires stand by time is about 100hours LONGER than the Atrix's stand by time.

The fact is, even on a busy day of phone useage..i still spend more time NOT USING IT, then i do..during that idle time..it actually lasts LONGER than an atrix.

If you average that time out with the time you spend USING THE PHONE (where it has a shorter life)..its probably a wash.

If you are going to be on your phone non-stop all day...you will have problems...

For "normal usage"..its going to end up being about the same because of its excellent idle power usage (im guessing).

Edit: i am assuming this meand leaving push features and syncs to minimum settings. But say you lay your phone down for a few hours (very common)..its going to suck LESS of its battery then an Atrix would have during that 3 hours.

I think with moderate to heavy use your gonna get 12 hours

No I don't think this is a good analogy.

Maybe if we were discussing Over-clocking...then yes.

The dual core .40nm tegra II is very efficient in its usage but will still burn up faster than the snap dragon while gaming or running multi-threaded apps. Of course at present there ARENT any of those at the moment but it also burns up its juice SIGNIFICANTLY faster at IDLE as well.

Okay, HTCsource just tweeted that they ran their Inspire "under pretty heavy use" for ~9.5 hours. Im not sure what constitutes pretty heavy use, but I imagine they were trying to kill the battery as quickly as possible. I think thats a reasonable showing...

That's good to know. I'm not a heavy user, but I'm sure this phone will last me through the day and still have at least 20% battery life left.

I can run my iPhone down a lot quicker than that. Weak signal area and lots of texting and web surfing, I can be down to 10% in 6-7 hours.

Looking forward to getting the inspire next Monday morning.

I can run my 20 month old 3gs down in 4.5 and i can run my girl friends 19 month old iphone 3g down in 3 if i try....

Nuff said.

I have to think that there are some standards (written or unwritten) when it comes to battery life on any phone. They wouldn't want to cut it too short as they'd lose business. I'm sure the phone will be on par with most of the other phones out there today.

Oh yeah, because there has never been a major design/engineering flaw in smartphone history. Come on now....

There's always flaws in design/engineering. Hence the terms "testing" and "beta". You probably remember the iPhone that was left in a bar? In most cases these flaws are worked out before the technology is released to the public.
