Root Htc one m8 stuck on boot screen

ViperOne worked! however after reading some of the posts in this thread it says it doesnt support sunshine?

What do you advise?
At this point, I advise getting everything backed up that you can especially from internal storage.

Then go back to TWRP (you can get there from the advanced power menu) and see if you can do a nandroid of what you have now.

If you can then perhaps your partitions are repaired.

If not, installing a suitably close stock recovery and performing a factory reset from within it may well repair the partition table - I know that worked on the One X.

You will lose all internal storage with that trick.

If true and it works, reinstall TWRP, do a nandroid backup, and then go for any stock rooted rom for Sunshine.

THANK YOU! Yes! It worked! I was able to get S-OFF and perform a nandroid backup using TWRP

god damn canadian dollar set me back even more than i was expecting with this s-off charge however it's all good now! Do you have any recommendations for a sense 7 rom to flash?

XD

Dears,

I have same problem with my HTC One M8, I have android version 5.0.2
I rooted my device then got s-0ff by sunshine.

when I tried to install TWRP, the device always stuck in Enter recovery mode screen.

so I used clockworkmod recovery v6.0.4.8 and I successfully installed ViperOneM8_4.3.0.

My problem that the device stuck when rebooting, and I tried the instructions in the post by doing fastboot flash boot boot.img but it didn't work :-(

any advice?

Yeah - it's hard to read your screen well, but it looks like it says M7_UL at the top - you have an HTC One (M7), not an HTC One M8. In fact, from the rest of the listing, I'm sure that's true.

First, you need TWRP, not CWM, with Viper.

And you need the M7 version -

https://dl.twrp.me/m7/twrp-2.8.7.0-m7.img.html

Put that in your fastboot folder.

Open a command window there, enter FASTBOOT (tap power) from your HBOOT screen shown above, plug in to PC so it says FASTBOOT USB at the top and in the command window say -

fastboot flash recovery twrp-2.8.7.0-m7.img

Go into TWRP by going from FASTBOOT USB to HBOOT and then to RECOVERY.

Download ViperOne 9.0.0 -

http://venomroms.com/htc-one-m7/

TWRP, MOUNT, check to mount internal storage - it should now show up on your PC and you can copy the ViperOne rom there using Windows Explorer.

When done, uncheck the storage option in TWRP, MOUNT, back out, go to INSTALL, select the ViperOne zip file and install that.

Best luck!

Many thanks my dear for you reply, I did the above steps and it's working fine.
My problem that I was thinking that my device M8, thanks for your note that it's M7 not M8.

I had small problem hope that you can help, after success install ViperOne, I defined long press back button to launch venom slidebar, every time I do long press back button, it shows me the ViperOne welcome screen then device hang.
Any idea how to launch venom slidebar?

See if the Venom Tweaks can give you a better option under buttons.

I have the M8 so we have button differences - I'm not sure what further advice to give on the M7.

Let me mention @Hadron (that will alert him) - he has the M7 and might have a suggestion.

I'd start by going into the app drawer and just clicking on the "side panel" app. That's the Venom sidebar. If that opens then the problem is with the button setup. If it hangs the problem is with the sidebar app.

If the sidebar app isn't working the first thing is just to clear data for it I guess. If it still doesn't work, what options did you select when installing the ROM?

(Note: I'm going to be offline now for at 24 hours or so, so I'm afraid I'll have to leave it with just those suggestions and questions. Sorry!).
