Root Htc one m8 unlocked stuck on boot screen

i downloaded it but when i put it on the memory card and then put it my phone and i tried to install it and i couldn't find it. it wasn't showing up:confused:
 
I'm not sure how the external sdcard shows up when navigating via TWRP since I don't own this phone sorry. It also may be worth rebooting recovery from the TRWP menu options since you pulled out the card and changed its contents midstream. Then retry and see if it shows up.

If not, we'll need to wait until an experience One M8 rom flasher shows up with the answer.

First go to the Mount menu and make sure the box next to "Micro SD Card" is checked. Then when you go to the Install menu, press on the screen where it says "Internal Storage (xxxxxGB) and choose Micro SD Card from the menu. Then you should be able to navigate the external card. For reference, the sd card is under /external_sd.
 
I downloaded a Rom in a zip format loaded it on to a memory card and put in into the phone and clicked install and then went under the micro sd folder and opened it and it's not showing it, any ideas why?
 
I finally had to go to a friend's house to use his internet and downloaded a barebones Rom and came home and loaded it and now it is alive and working. It's a little different from my other HTC one software. What is superSU???? Is that mean my phone is rooted

Thank you so much and everyone that helped me. Now I would like to know if I could find the HTC one m8 Google edition Rom and do I just flash it like I did the bare bone?
 
I have my other HTC one m8 that I am trying to root myself for the first time because I love how my daughter's phone ended up turning out.
I managed to get it unlocked through htcdev.com and it shows its unlocked in fastboot but I'm having trouble when I'm trying to root it. I can't seem to get a recovery to load and work. Is there a easy site or video to show me how to do it?
 
Well I found a sweet YouTube video that walked me through rooting my phone now I was wondering what sweet Rom s are there for a htc one m8

Yep, no worries.

Your backups will generate md5 files, that's what that refers to.

What you want for installation zips is to compare what you have vs what the dev says is right.

Check out "AFV (Android File Verifier)"

Use that to get the md5 of your download, compare with the published value at the download server.
 
hi guys,

I seem to be having the same problem as zimmdo23...i was trying to install coin following a video tutorial with the aim of gaining s-off. However, the video failed to prompt me for a backup and it really didnt occur to me because everything worked perfectly on the video. Unfortunately after installing the insert coin the refused to boot and got stuck at the htc one logo screen.

I tried to install ROMs but anytime i do it tells me it appears your device is not rooted [do you want to install SU now], but i know for sure my phone is rooted. the worst part is choosing to install or not to install SU still goes back the htc logo screen and remains stuck again..


I am really frustrated. If anyone could help me on this problem.

Welcome to the forums, sorry for the frustration.

Ignore the TWRP message that you're not rooted. Your phone is in an undefined state so it's getting confused.

Your kernel didn't flash properly with the rest of the rom, a very common s-on problem.

Please follow the same advice as earlier to fix that -

Take your rom zip file on your pc. Unzip it.

Extract a file called boot.img - and copy it over to where you have fastboot installed.

Boot into your bootloader then plug your phone into your pc. It should say Fastboot USB at the top - navigate to the fastboot section if necessary to see that message on your phone.

Then open a command window where you have fastboot installed and say there -

fastboot flash boot boot.img

Reboot and enjoy!

Thanks for this info it is gold. I am often changing my roms and if something goes wrong I used to wait until the battery ran out and then would power it straight into bootloader. if the battery was full I would have to wait hours.

Hi guys I've done the same thing and I really hope i haven't wasted £200 on this phone :( I got the HTC m8 but when it came it was locked to vodaphone even though ebay seller told me it was unlocked! (I'm on o2) so i rooted it fine and then i tried something else adding something and forgot to write the file and done the same thing.

My question is how to I find out which Rom I need e.g. where to find the serial number, firmware verison or whatever it is that matches with the roms so i can have my phone up and running again (rooted) and I will take it to a shop to unlock or if i can do it online I'll do that (pay for it without messing it up)

I know how to boot it up how to install a rom from the micro sd card just not which rom i need

I tried the one this guy used and it didn't work :(

solution: power button + volumen up the put your phone in fastboot usb, open platform-tools sdk(search for others download from htcdev), then put the twrp in that folder and press (shift+right clic), then you need to type:
fastboot devices
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img

then go to your phone, press power and select recovery.
(the twrp is an example, used the one that you downloaded)
